Neighborly Yard Etiquette

Our only neighbors are trees and fields. When we did live in town we had a neighbor that was one of those cut the grass every other day wether it needs it or not types and you HAVE to cut it 1/4 inch tall. I like grass so our mower is set at the highest setting - you can't see the dog poo.

. I asked the guy to either stop cutting my grass or cut the whole yard but raise the mower deck up. He never did get the idea, I ended up putting up a split rail fence.

I really have to apologize for sounding like a totally mean and crabby old person who has done it all and seen it all, it is just that I am a mean and crabby old person who has done it all and seen it all and my tolerance for rude or stupid or roaming dogs and dumped cats and all of that is very minimal...and those who ask for advice and begin a response with "yes but", will see my butt walking away...yeah...old...crabby...me to a T...

Sorry, but I agree with this post.
Is there any reason why you couldn't have knocked on their door - with rake in hand perhaps? - and ask that they rake up what blew onto your lawn?
Geesh! It's just grass clippings!

When I first moved to my farmette I was ignorant of the lawe that places all rural mailboxes on one side of the road. So I innocently put my name in stick-on letters on the newer of the 2 boxes on my side.
Next day I found them torn off and the neighbor's name written in marker on that box.
Instead of getting "even" I just put a note in the box apologizing for my mistake.
That Sunday I got homemade cookies and 5 years later we are on friendly terms.

And, yes, I am in an Ag area on 5ac, so neighbors are not right next-door. But courtesy is courtesy.
As my Mom used to say:
"You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar"

They dont live there. They are going to rent it out. So there was no knocking and asking.

Weve talked to the guy that owns it before all that happend. Hes real nice. I just havent seen them at that house in about 2 weeks. I dont even know who cuts the grass. Im guessing its him cause he said he had to bushhog the stuff

These werent just like little flakes of grass but MOUNDS and CLUMPS of grass. Wet stinky mildewy grass.

Along the same lines (but taking it too far if you ask me). I grew up in town, in a neighborhood. We had older neighbors along our back fence that raked all the leaves in their yard one time, and dumped them over the fence into our yard. They told us, "they came from Your tree, so they are Your leaves."

I of course thought it was funny, since I was a young teen. My mom nearly blew a gasket, LOL!!

I could see that..
My dads neighbor busted up his old pool and dumped all the concrete over his fence and into my dads backyard. When confronted about it the guy said 'Well I cant see it and I dont know why you care so much.. its in the woods.' It ended with the police being called..
Some people......

You didn't mind living next to a home that had tall grass/vacant and yard obviously going to the dumps, but when they actually mow it to make it presentable you complain because the clippings were blown into your yard.

I think you better start praying now for some decent renters because if this gives you issues, your in for a lifetime of complaining!!
