Neighbors chicken on my property!

If your yard is more appealing then you may well end up with more hens! I don't know about the roosters though. Maybe they will find some kind of equilibrium? Would this be so bad? So long as you ended up with the eggs of course!

To keep them separate you may need to put up movable fencing to limit how far your birds can range.

It sounds like your neighbor has little interest in keeping his animals properly contained and simply expects you to accept any mess they leave behind.

It is shameful that they don't seem to care.

Definilty not bad if we end up with more hens! Our rooster is bigger than their rooster not sure if that matters but the last rooster that was on our property our rooster chased off many times. Do roosters normally just chase others off their territory or do they chase to kill? It wouldn’t be as bad if it was just off the territory but I don’t want him that close to the road. The only time he ever goes that close to the road is when he sees our car pull up he will run down to it and chase it up.... but it’s only our car

Thank you everyone for your responses! I have about a month to figure the situation out. The neighbors said they can’t keep the chickens on their property as “they go where they want and they can’t be contained to the property” I might try the nesting box idea! It wouldn’t be a huge issue if the neighbors didn’t have other roosters. We have let our rooster roam for 2 years as I said and their chicken had never came in our yard til this winter. I’m afraid there will be a fight or my rooster will chase theirs and get hit. Their chickens keep coming further and further into our yard Any more ideas are welcome!

I would say that those chickens are hungry.

Sounds like your neighbour is a lazy person who can't be bothered. While ending up with more chickens if you have the space is nice I would wonder if the neighbours chickens are sick or at the very least starving as you said they have only started doing that this year correct?

If that's the case sounds like the neighbour lost interest or just flat out don't care at which point you could either raise a complaint with animal control over the health and well-being of the chickens or you could offer to buy the chickens from them and hope they don't buy any more.

But seriously your neighbour sucks with that attitude.

Funny thing too........
Most of the time people like the lazy neighbor will be the first ones to call the cops if the OP does contain/ restrict from going back across the road said wandering birds.

The neighbors live on 5 acres like us but their chickens are at the front of their property. They have 75 chicken!! But only about 6 come on our property. I know that since it is winter not many bugs are our out. I don’t know if they feed their chicken. I only know they have an automatic door on their coop that has a timer so they don’t have to go shut the coop door... I only see them out when they are feeding the horses. And they can’t throw the feed on the ground because horses can’t have chicken feed. Today only went on the ditch but yesterday they came up halfway to our house. We have fencing up in the front for our horses but that obviously doesn’t keep the chickens out! Today a car came off the highway and almost took out 3 of their hens that were on the road.

I would get animal control in on it as it does not seem like they can be bothered to keep their animals on their land which I'm sure there are local laws on keeping you animals specially livestock on your own land and not letting it wander. maybe if some hits them or a wild animal eats them they will get the message and keep the animals on their own land.
