Neighbors chickens are a hot mess

Where, generally, are you located. I’m not a law expert, but I do know that fence laws vary according to where you are located. Sone western states are “fence out “ states. This means you have to fence out what you don’t want on your property. This mainly has a history with grazing/ranging animals on vast expanses. Many states are “fence in” so as the animal owner, you must fence your own animal in your property bounds. Then, there are whatever rules/ordinances in effect in your city or neighborhood.

Two old guys and their dad that have lived there for decades- yeah, that’s going to be tough to change behavior. Not a battle I would desire.

Overall, you need to figure out the laws/rules/ordinances for your location. From there you can decide what tactic is best. These options include tolerating it until you move or they die or move.

You're not liable for your neighbors chickens , only yours. Its important to keep them off your property using whatever means you have available to prevent the spread of disease to your flock. Many diseases are airborne and can be spread by dander. Some can be fatal which could cause you to lose your entire flock. I use fences and dogs to keep my neighbors chickens away from from m chickens. I can't advise you what method would be most effective in your situation but I hope will will consider the threat they are to your own. My dogs do an excellent job keeping pests and other animals run off and having a fence helps.

Call animal control if that’s a thing where you live. If you continue to have problems, call again. And again. Clearly the owners aren’t going to change anything, so I don’t know if further conversation would be helpful. Fence in your property. It will deter both the neighbors’ chickens and the predators they attract. Add a few strands of electric fence, and your birds will be even more secure. Back out of the driveway slowly. The chickens will move.
I’m not worried about running over their chickens as much as a car running into our house.

I doubt they have a clue how many chickens they have either.
I agree, they just keep buying. I’d love to have more chickens but I don’t have the space I feel is sufficient and my boyfriend might kill me if there is another body pooping in the back yard. I have to consider if it’s right and who would it impact if I had 800 chickens. I’m scared they will end up with a rooster…the odds are against them

Sounds like your boyfriend and my husband are cut from the same cloth
