Neighbor's dog came back for our ducks today! What to do?

This "dog-country" here, people (dog-owners) tell me »phew its just a duck!« :(
To which i usually answer, that this »just a duck« was laying an egg a day, making one kid very happy who is allergic to chicken eggs and hasn't been able to eat an egg in years. And all the ducks agreed that this kid can have the eggs for free!
I will give them a call tomorrow, so they had three business days to respond and if i don't see any action i might notice the county or whoever is "bossmang" to Animal "Services".
I don't want to happen anything to that dog, just keep it off my property and tell me weather it has a rabies vaccination, so i can decide weather i need one or not.

Hi HillBilly.... Me again. I know you do NOT want anything to happen to the dog. I completely understand! I am a dog (animal, really) lover too... But in order to get this properly handled AND get the neighbors to rein in their beloved pet, you NEED to follow the instructions I gave you. Call the Health Dept where you live. Tell them your neighbor's dog came onto your property and attacked you and your animals. Be sure to tell them it DREW BLOOD. This is very important. Tell them that "you do not know if the dog had rabies." Stating these two things are VERY IMPORTANT. It does not mean they will put down the dog. What it does is initiate proper procedures that Animal Control has to follow. And since another government agency (Health Dept) is involved, Animal Control will be required to follow up with your neighbor's vet to insure the dog was properly vaccinated. If it wasn't, it will be quarantined on the neighbor's dime. I guarantee that your neighbor's will be hella careful to not let their dog onto your property again if they face this scrutiny.... Voila....two birds, one stone.

Haha! Thanks! Hope I didn't offend. I did a little research about it, but I learned more from your reply. I figured it was something like that. I really appreciate it.

Not all Americans eat BBQ?! Really??? Haha!
(Don't) try BBQ in Chicago! E-ver! - But do try a hot-dog there!
And don't try the vegan BBQ in California!!! :sick I'd rather suck on a duck-poopsicle!

Hey!!!! I'm a vegetarian! AND I live in California!
🤣😂🤣🤣😂

I am a CA vegetarian, but I get it. I haven't eaten meat in so long, I don't really remember what it tastes like, so that fake stuff is actually good to me now.

It's like my husband says, "Being a vegetarian is a missed steak."

In general, it won’t hurt to give any bbq a pass here in California. Especially anything labeled “authentic”. That’s a word that gets used here to try to convince people that a food is somehow worth a ridiculous price.

Depends on who is doing the cue-ing. But YES. That dang word.... It's as overused and as misused as the word "literally."

Update on Nona Duck: She is almost back to normal, but shaken up again!

Nona is doing physically fine, but mentally she is a wreck: Her hatch sister Curiosity-Duck unexpectedly died today! 😭
I was a bit worried about Curiosity yesterday, she has always been a very quiet duck, but yesterday she just laid down in the sun at the house and slept but still looked exhausted when she walked into the duck-house in the evening. This morning she came out of the house with the other ducks and ate some cat-food. In the afternoon when i went out to collect the eggs i found her dead in the house. ☹ She was 2½ years old.
I made some graphic pictures of her before i buried her on the duck cemetery under the huge tulip-tree and will post them in a new thread, maybe somebody has an idea what was wrong with her.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but wanted to share my similar experience.

When I was a teen my family had ducks. My mom caught the neighbor's black lab after our ducks one time and scared him away. The second time he came back he was successful in killing a duck, and when my mom tried to scare him away, he started chasing her. My stepdad blasted the dog with a shotgun, killing it, and fixed the problem for good. We had asked the neighbors dozens of times to restrain the dog, and they never did.

I'm not saying that was the best outcome or the right thing to do by law, but my feelings were never hurt that the dog died. It is a shame too many dog owners don't care about taking care of their dogs.

Glad to hear your duck is better. I hope you find a reasonable solution, hopefully one that doesn't involve any more deaths or disputes.
I will secure my land with an electric fence, have already started with the first post today, but hit an unexpected obstacle… see my later post. I do not want to kill the dog, only as a last resort…

I’m sorry you and Nona keep going through so much. :hugs Hang in there!

If it bit you and Drew blood rabies shots are no joke its 6shots in the stomach I would call the cops just to have a formal complaint on record im a dog lover I have 2beagles if they harmed my neighbors animals I would be freaking out not threatening to call the cops for you defending your self
I read about the rabies-vaccination and that it is the one with the highest chance of side-effects, so if it isn't necessary i don't want it. All i want is that somebody from Animal "Services" calls the neighbor or visits them and:
  1. Asks them if Max is vaccinated against Rabies?
  2. Explains them that they should not let the dog roam off their property. - It is for the dog's best, not only do i know that some of the neighbors do own guns and will use them, but we also have Coyotes in the area and they wouldn't hesitate to have him for dinner.
