Nest boxes

Cat carriers or milk crates with a floor and lip installed on the front seem to work fine and be the right size.

Here are my nesting boxes. I've left them in this state since building them, with the idea that I would finish them off as the time got closer to laying. I've added a taller back stop so when you open the doors, no wood chips fall out. I'm trying to decide what to do with the front. I think I'll put some curtains across the front for sure. Should I put any dividers in the boxes? I've read that people make them small for one chicken, then they want to share and stack in there. They aren't the deepest (maybe only 8") and I thought I'd better go wider to compensate. Can I get some opinions on working with what I have?

EDIT: I have 6 hens, and two Pekins. The coop is about 7'x4'x4'. I feel like I have more nesting boxes than I need, but the space is awkward so I'm hoping to compensate.
