Nest boxes

How many nest boxes should I have for 6-8 hens? Last question have before I start my coop. Thank for the input.

i'd only put 4 in there going to use the same ones any way........................ i put 8 in mine and just took out half and gave them more floor space

For our 3 hens coop we build only one nest..They will share it anyway

I have 7 hens and put in 2 egg crates and a wooden wine box. They ALL go into the one egg crate. I have to go in often to collect the eggs or some will break.

From what I have read here on BYC you would need 2 - one nest box for every 3-4 hens but everyone says they will prefer one of them - I have yet to personally see

We have only 3 hens. My DH put in 5 nesting boxes. Ridiculous. They only use 1.

I have 6 girls and 4 attached external boxes so it does not take away from floor space. I would bet they will all try to use the same one from what I hear on the boards.
