Nesting box question

Okay originally I had milk crates, they looked nice but didn't seem to fit the bigger hens. So I redesigned them using stackable type storage bins (not stacked, but side by side instead). I put the chickens in there from time to time and say "Egg"

Do you honestly think they'll know where to lay their eggs? All my chickens are older (4+ months) when I get them and their previous homes had traditional nesting boxes. Think they'll catch on?

Okay, I put some golf balls in there but they just push them out and roll them around LOL.

I have tried several different types of nest boxes for my girls. They like the milk crates best, even though they are large chickens and have to squeeze themselves in. I put a fake egg in each box, and they figured out where to lay pretty fast.
