I'm a new member and I think I put my original post in the wrong section, so I apologize if I'm repeating myself.

My husband and I built a coop about 2 years ago. It is up off the ground. The 'floor' is chicken coop is wire and straw. We recently added on a totally contained 'outside' coop area (which the 'floor' is the ground), for the 6 hens and 1 rooster to get out into should we be be gone for a couple of days. The hens haven't started laying yet, but should start soon. My question is, would it be feasible to put the nesting boxes outside in the contained fenced coop area up off the ground or is it better to try and put them in the original coop. They have constant access to both the coop and contained 'outside' area.

I appreciate any feedback.

Judy
