Nevadans?

I want this guy gone and forgotten. I grew up with this crap. I will not watch my grand kids do the same. No one ever protected me or my sister. That will not be true for my grandchildren. I am so sorry that my daughter has had to already take blows from this guy. I fully intend to take any others he has. I can return them much better than she can.

What a rough time! I will be praying for your daughter and your whole family. That is a cycle you sure don't what to be perpetuated for your grandchildren. I'm glad those first steps have been taken.

Crap Sunny, we just have more and more in common.

Stick by her, but do it gently. Some of us go through felling so aweful that we think the people helping are attacking and that's worse than anything the lowlife can do to us. After all, they still want us around even though they've made it clear we aren't worthy.

Oh so sad but so true! I think a lot more women than we realize have been here. We just don't like to talk about it cause then folks look at you like "Why did you let that happen?" So easy to judge when you haven't been there, plus people like to think it couldn't happen to them. Actually I'm happy when girls are this ignorant. It means they haven't been through this kind of hell and I hope they never have to!

Our daughter is going through this also :( She keeps going back to this creep. Her 2 daughters from her first marriage said no more this time and now are living with us. It is SO sad!

It is terribly sad! So glad the girls have you though!

I have heard that so many times, "Well why don't you just leave?" or "Why did you marry him in the first place?" And if you tell them that your now-ex didn't show red flags until a week after you were married, that some men are THAT good at manipulation, they still don't get it.

My ex is currently going through his 2nd divorce. He snow-jobbed a poor girl who had two kids and was pregnant with a 3rd, acting like he was going to be her knight in shining armor. A few weeks ago, she asked me to testify in regards to what I went through while married to him. I told her of course I would, but to be aware that though a lot of horrible stuff happened to me, none of it was as bad as what he did to her. A lot of women don't realize that... they don't change. Quitting a bad habit is different than changing your entire personality and how you view women. And letting it happen, or going back, is giving him permission to keep doing it... and to let it get worse.

And when you find the good ones... keep them around! I know, if I did something to lose Russ, I'd be the stupidest lady in town.

On a brighter note, though it seems so out of context for the current topic of conversation:

1) Sheryl, I just gave your cream puff recipe to my older sister. She's making it right now.

2) The next step on the coop is done... these are the hinged lids to the nesting boxes. I need to brush them with a protectorant, then apply latches, hinges, and handles. The walls and hardware cloth go up on Saturday, if it can dry out long enough. Never mind if... Russ leaves town on Thursday. Those walls will go up.

Now does anyone have recommendations on a brand of super-heavy-duty outdoor polyurethane to prolong the lives of these babies?

Thank you!
Probably Buffs and a couple of Banties..we are thinking about a RIR rooster..but we'll see....I kind of want to phase out the Barred Rocks. You guys have quite the network going over there.I have met a few other people here that are into chickens but they aren't very social at all! So it's nice to have BYC...

Why are you phasing out Barred Rocks? Just wondering. I haven't had them since I was a kid, so I'm unfamiliar with their behavior.

My BRs were bullies. I had them and Doms. The Doms were almost as bad, but boy did they lay like crazy. Problem with those breeds is I raised WCBP back then and one of the reasons I think we had to go Polish hunting most nights, was the others would roost and the Polish waited for them to knock eachother around a while before they went in, just to sneak by. The other reason was they would get too far away from the coop and if it started getting dark they just dropped where they stood. Dingy poof heads.

Thank you!

Yeah I love it here. Spend too much time on here.

Kim we are setting up a separate covered run for the Polish since it seems that all other chickens will peck at the crest of these birds. With that vaulted skull making their poor little brains so vulnerable I just feel better if they have their own area. A covered run will keep their crests dry and warm too. Been reading up on the breed quite a bit. The to do list just got even longer.
