We put another brahma in with her, that helped. Gave her some chick scratch to occupy them. She is OCD with it.

The red light will camoflauge it, and that will definitely help.

For those of you who dont know, Petey is my first roo that i had to get rid of because he got attitudy with me. Hes my favorite chicken of all time. He faught off four racoons one night and saved one of his girls. The coons dropped him from a telephone pole and we thought he was dead. Lo and behold he moved a little and within weeks we were able to completely nurse him back to health. Now julie has him with his own lovely ladies and these babies are his first shot at fatherhood. Nice work petey!

Wow, what a story! It's too bad you had to let him go, but he made some adorable babies! Did the raccoons attack at dark, or was there some light out?

It was about 3 am. Mark and I heard one of the birds scream and so we ran out with the dog and we saw two jump the fence while Elvis ran the other two up the pole. He kept them up there until sunup, then mark and i threw rocks at them until they fell into the neighbors yard. Petey was found on the complete opposite end of the yard facedown in muck. We think he used his last burst of strength to get away and then collapsed. We thought all of his girls were gone until the next day when i found priscilla limping around in the backyard. These birds really bring out my emotions!

Yes, we put someone on this afternoon, so if that is the best choice for her we will put it on her again before bed. This makes me very sad. Thank you!!!

Okay guys, time for some baby Peteys! I got to see him by the way, he is even more handsome than i remember! His skin is completely red now haha. I love him

So Julie collected five eggs from his pen, and of that five eggs four hatched. All hatched with naked necks LOL! go Petey! He was in with a white silkie and a black silkie, so were still trying to figure out what color those little chipmunky guys are gonna be.

I can't wait to see what the chipmunks turn out to be!!! I was told Partridge but I hope they are more blue or silver partridge!! They have a similar pattern as my Blue Light Brown Dutch chicks, I am very partial to blue so I hope they turn out with Blue!! Aubrey it was great to see you and so happy for you and your 4 little Petey off spring!!! I love it when my favorite birds have children!! I call them my grandkids LOL!!!

Julie, it was so good to see you again! I am so excited for these little ones. They are the smallest babies I have ever had, hands down. I am so in love with them!
