Nevadans?

So... I knew I wanted chickens...but omg I never expected it to be sooo much fun to go checking for eggs everyday lol. I finished picking up the rest of my chickens today. Total I ended up with 19, only 2 were roosters. I kept one rooster and six hens. The rest of the chickens I placed with friends. I kept the three runner ducks for two days and they were laying eggs for us, but my grey call drake hated them with a vengance. So they went to a neighbor. My turkeys now have thier own pen and will hopefully stop roaming the streets. But I have been getting eggs like crazy. Heck just moving them we found six eggs in the carriers. About three times a day I go looking for eggs...ok its more like every hr lol. But im getting blue, green, & brown eggs. The ducks were laying white ones and the turkey was laying brown with dark speckles. If I had had the space and pens I would have so kept every one of those hens!

As soon as my camera gets batterys I will post pics. Before my tom turkey got transported in a doge crate his tail was stunning! ...now not so much.

Ooooh! I want turkeys! At this stage I think I will just pay Ron to do it but maybe next year we can do turkeys!!! Can't wait to see pics!

The Royal Palms are gorgeous! I think they would be hard to eat though. Well not to eat but to butcher since they are sooo pretty.

Ive talked to the hubby & I dont think we are going to eat this pair. Maybe raise a few babies and for the most part enjoy eggs lol

This is Sesame. Is it just obvious why I'm so in love with her? This is her choice of cuddle spot.

so sweet!

My W/BW ams are not cuddly. Beautiful but they stay away! My BLRW are the cuddly ones. I'm going to feel bad rehoming, Splash. My sister got very attached to him. He's always up for a snuggle.

Your coop is a fortress!

My BR lays eggs in weird places, too. Her first two were in the nesting boxes. I suspect the one just inside the door was hers. Yesterday, she squatted right next to the picnic table, in the open yard. Maybe easter egg hunts are going to be a literal occurance for awhile.

I love the distinct barring on your marans! Mine aren't that distinct yet, but I think I can count on one being a pullet.
Now, after much going back and forth, I'm thinking the one in the photo is a pullet and the other with more white is a cockerel. We'll see how it turns out. They stay back from me but once I catch them they will settle down and nap in my hands for a bit. they are my youngest chicks in the brooder.

You showed a lot of restraint keeping only 6 hens and a rooster and 2 turkeys. Get those batteries! We love photos!

Here is my latest hatch that finished yesterday 19 hatched these are for sale.... Buff and Light Brahmas, Silkies, and Show girls...the 2 dark chicks and 2 buff chicks are brahmas, the dark stripey and 3 light colored chicks surrounding the buff chick are Show Girls and the light gray chick up by the dark chicks is the blue/lavendar Silkie. These are straight run, but I will always take back any that turn out to be roosters if you can't keep them.
You don't know how tempting this is!!!! But my husband would not be happy with me getting more chicks at this point.

Great looking eggs Elizabeth!

Such adorable pics of cute babies!!!

Went to Sheryl's today. 1 little duckling was hatched and dry. Another had pipped. Soooo cute!

I set 53 eggs today for the Easter hatch. Most of them are Genny's and will go home with her after hatching but I threw in a few of my BCM pullet's eggs too. They probably won't hatch but I couldn't resist. I will be adding 2 dozen Yokohama eggs plus another dozen BCM eggs from sewandgrow, and Kim said she will have a few for me as well to pick up on Tuesday if the weather doesn't get any worse. Otherwise it will be Wednesday before I can get them.

good luck on your hatch! You never know on your BCM eggs. Maybe you'll get a surprise.

Aubrey! How are those little Show girls doing? Have they begun to feather out a little? What colors are you seeing? I am dying to know!!! Out of the 4 SG that just hatched 3 were a lot lighter than your babies. I am tempted to keep those 3 just to see what color they turn out to be LOL!!
