Nevadans?

hmm, could big girls live outside in small improvised coops untill my two girls caught up in sze or would it be to cruel to make them be alone that long? i thik theyd be tooo sad, what do you think?

I have a Roo living all alone while some girls get grown up for him. No he is not real happy about it but he does pretty good. Definitely not suicidal or anything anyway.

Sorry I missed you all at the show yesterday. I had to go to Fernley to pick up some nearly grown chickens from a friend that had to get rid of them. I got 2 white Rock hens, one roo and 2 hen partridge rocks & a the same of Buff Orphingtons. The partridge rocks are absolutely gorgeous. If I'd known they were so beautiful I'd have got some sooner. I'm glad I will be able to breed them.

wow very cool! ill have to keep my eyes out for hens in fernley then, as my search is going oretty, well, dry, haha. good luck with your new girls

BoulderCityFoul-No kidding, better get started! I was reading that you can let them out for some limited, supervised and corraled foraging at about 2 weeks!

aubreynoramarie-have you tried your local feed store to see if they have silkies? I haven't seen them at mine, but I know they had some at a feed store in a more rural area. I've heard they aren't the best layers, but that they go broody more often and are great mothers. I just wanted them for the oddity.

vegaschick-I swear each time I go in there to check on them they grow some more. And that leg stretch is the cutest thing ever! It's especially pretty now that their wings are coming in!

They are getting so feisty now! I need to start searching for a bigger box so they don't get too crowded. Any ideas on containers or how much floor space they should have?

Hi Everybody,

I picked up a couple chicks at the swap and they are getting acquainted with their new home. I posted a few more pictures on my page. The coop is about 90% complete, with just some cosmetics remaining (paint & trim). For those of you that are more experienced, any advice for the coop?

I'm now looking for a couple more chicks to complete the new addition. I'm looking for a couple young chicks (less than 2 months or thereabouts).

Bloomie- thanks for the updates. Exciting stuff. I also love your granddaughters shirt in the pictures. I'm a huge Red Sox fan!

Jason
