Nevadans?

Have you picked her up and checked her feet? Feel her hock joint, or any other joint in her leg, and see if it is hot? She may have twisted a joint or maybe has bumblefoot or a broken toe?

If you find heat in a joint, you can help her out with blueberries. They have natural aspirin in them. Getting her to try them will be the hardest part because of how dark they are... but once she tries them there will be no turning back!

I keep them in my freezer and thaw out about a tablespoon or so for a large fowl. You'll probably have to separate her to give them to her because the other girls will want them too once they see her eating them. Though I'm not against giving them yummy treats like that, they're a bit pricey and the only time my birds get blueberries is if someone is in pain.

Hope she recovers soon.

Sunny was over here when I noticed her limping, and she and I both couldn't find anything wrong. She's getting around just fine, and won the fish war, so she's not too bad. But it's day 3 and I was hoping she'd be all better by now.

Blueberries are on sale right now, and I was going to get more to put in the freezer, anyway. And Original will try just about anything. Thanks for the advice!

Hi all! Hope everyone is well and having a great weekend. I sure miss checking in here daily!
Sunny, long time no see!

LOL! She's laughing folks cause I used her computer to get online the other day. The dogs now have a working electric "Pet Safe" fence, thanks to Missy, so the training will begin as soon as we get the flags put back in. :D
Thanks Missy!!!
Update on the "Star Gazer" chick. I am happy to say he has almost made a full recovery!

I can hardly tell him from the other two chicks now!! I hope others can learn from my experience if they ever have a chick or chicken that has a Thiamine deficiency.
Awww, good to hear he's doing so well!
Haha, Original is still Queen of the Backyard! She's still limping pretty badly, but she won the fish.

One of the drakes caught a fish from the pond and flipped it onto land so he could eat it. Of course, the chickens are faster on land, so one of them snatched it up. The chickens played tag with it, one stealing from the other, running around the yard with four angry ducks chasing them as fast as they could. In the end, Original grabbed the fish and gimped over behind a large piece of metal, where only one chicken could fit. Against 17 other chickens and 4 ducks, she won the fish.
Ya! Way to go Original!
alright guys, I have 3 eggs developing under my two broodies. Two green eggs and a small white egg.

we are on day five
Keeping our fingers crossed here too!

Jose had a physical test at the walmart dist center this morning and got a call this afternoon to come in Monday for a job offer! The pay is way better than the other job he interviewed for. almost twice as much. and almost as much as he was making when he left his job 3 years ago. We don't know which shift it is yet since he applied for 2 different shifts in the same position. either day shift Mon-Thurs (10 hrs/day) or swing shift Friday-Sun (12 hrs/day). He should have asked when he got the call but oh well, I guess we can wait until Monday. He has to stay home from camping, though. we're going up Sunday afternoon. He can probably come up on Monday afternoon unless he needs to start working right away on Tuesday.

we are having a nice visit with my parents. I got done painting the inside of the playhouse today. My mom has been sorting all the clothes I have for the consignment sale in october and prepping them. that is a huge help. then I can just get the tags printed out and pinned on the clothes when it gets closer to the sale.

great news on the star gazer, candy.

hope original recovers from her foot, missy.

Tyler, if you need a lot of hardware cloth or welded wire, i got a really good price and free shipping from wayfair.com. It's good stuff and quite a bit cheaper than lowes. I got 1/2" x 1/2" hw cloth as well as some 3 x2 welded wire. they have a variety of sizes.

hello everyone else!

YAY for the new job. How have you been feeling?
What are you doing up so late????

Okay, I'm now settling down here.

Candy, that was really great with the chick. I heard you have a short time to fix the neck before it's a permanent condition.

Seth, that is one fantastic coop you have there. Perhaps you may want to go into business building them for all us chicken people.

Sunny, Bridgette is doing great! She's running around with the rest of the flock but still likes to hang out with the ducks. She's sleeping in the coop at night some nights and sleeps with the ducks other nights. Her Monique have become really good friends. I think it's their little noises they both make. They seem to understand they are pretty much the same birds.

Candy, Lucky Leroy still hasn't crowed yet. John is really happy about it too. Is this a rare thing having a rooster who does not crow? He hasn't learned how to take care of his girls first yet, I'm looking forward to that.

Tyler, how's it going at home now? I do hope it's been much better now the shock is over? Are you still moving to Washington?

Lacy, thanks for the heads up on the blueberries, I had no idea about how great they are.

Elizabeth, I hope Jose loves his new job. I like the 3-12 hour shifts myself but it sounds like he will be at work when you're home and you'll be at work when he's home if he has the Fri-Sun shift? Let's hope he gets the shift that works well with both of you.

I'm doing great. I went to my liver doctor on Friday and was given good news with a touch of bad news. The good news is, I won't need a liver transplant for another 10 years if ever. He said if he does his job well then it will be never. The live liver donor program was stopped a few years ago because 2 donors died and he said that just can't happen. It's just now slowly coming back but they need to take baby steps to make sure the donor will survive the donation. If the time comes I need a liver transplant will need to be from a cadaver only. Besides, I really had to think about the living liver donor after I read what the liver donor would go through. Whomever wanted to donate a liver would be in the hospital 6 to 8 weeks at UCSF. I just can't imagine anyone wanting to be stuck in a hospital for up to 2 months?

I have 2 liver diseases, 100% positive. I have NASH and Alpha-1 Antitrypsin. I'll be getting a drug infusion every 3 to 4 weeks for life of the Alpha-1 Antitrypsin from blood plasma. this really makes me appreciate blood donors even more than before. Sunny & Steve and everyone else who donates their blood is really a life saver. I've never had a blood transfusion let alone just getting plasma.

I was so tired today, I asked if I could go home early and my manager said yes. I didn't last long at home and before I knew it, I was in bed sleeping. I just woke up for a bit and now I'm off to go to bed again.

Things are ok they are slowly going back to normal. No I'm not moving to Washington I'm trying to get out of NV though.

Julie my white showgril is looking like a roo he hasn't made any noise YET, but the second he try to crow you'll have a new friend. BTW have my Wheaton roosters sold yet?

SETH. Can u post a pic of her head(topknot) I want to see..... yes the wheatons were rehomed! They went together to a large flock. I hope they mind their manners.... or she might return one.... :D
