Nevadans?

Have a person interested in my hens. We will meet up friday evening.
I think I might have gotten my first duck egg today. It's small and white, and first I thought it was Finger the minorca's egg, though it was in a bottom nesting box and Finger lays in the top ones. Kung Pao lays in the bottom, but her eggs are still teeny tiny. So I figured Finger had laid in the bottom, but I just gathered one of her eggs from the top box. It's the same size as Finger's (small pullet size,) and when I compare them, it has the tiniest cream tint to it. So faint that you'd think it was white if you didn't compare the eggs side by side.

Sheryl, what do you think? Also, I'm still very puzzled about whose egg that was when you came over to get grapes. I haven't seen another one like it since, but it was the size that Finger started out laying. She's now up to the size of a standard first pullet egg.

I guess maybe I could crack this one open and see if it has a donut spot in it. If it does, it's duck for sure.
If it is your first duck egg, congrats!

That sounds like great news. It's exactly 5 months to the day one of them hatched and they usually lay right on time. Weigh it and see if it weighs around 1.90 ounces? I'm not sure about the greenish tint though because their eggs are white to me but then again I don't have a chicken that lays white eggs so perhaps. I have no idea on the other egg I found though. It was just laying in the middle of the yard. When you crack this egg and the membrane is so tough then you know it's a duck egg. The membrane is very tough to get through. Please let me know.

Hmmm actually I don't think it is one, because it's more of a cream... the color of my legs! Lol!

This big guy is for sale, he is out of my very large SQ Cayugas, but his beak is the wrong color.

Here is another shot of a few of the Cayugas!

Headed to Paso Robles Show next weekend WooHoo!! Only taking Ducks to this show.

Stupid, unreliable craigs list person really capped off a less than lovely day for me.

fun times catching and loading 4 hens in a box, cramming the box into my small car and waiting at a gas station for 25 minutes to have no one show up.

Julie those birds are gorgeous! <3 if I had ducks it would definitely be those. 100%

Hi flamingchicken!

Elizabeth, I'm sorry to hear that. How frustrating! And they would have gotten such nice birds!!! Grrrrrr  I bet if you take em to the swap they will sell FAST!

i agree, nice looking ducks, Julie. And the australorps are very nice looking, too. Hope the swap goes well for you all.

thanks for the empathy, Ron and aubrey. I just hate putting out that effort for nothing. and my poor girls were probably so confused. I wish I could go to the swap but we have soccer photos and a game. It was time to renew my CL posting so maybe someone else will come along.

Oh, I am soooo grumpy today. Hassles at work and my sinuses are bothering me again. Ok, vent over. have a good night everyone
