Love your polish.

Ok, 2 SLWs and an EE gone this a.m. Have a taker for the welsummer this afternoon. Will this be enough to keep the noise down? Maybe not, we'll see. I really have lots to do around the house but I am having trouble with my sinuses again. I'm pretty sick of it. maybe I need to up the ACV.

Yes, I think it's good to have her separate from the flock to reduce the chance of the others getting it. You probably want to treat everyone with an antibiotic. Some of the others on here might have an idea of what one to get. I don't have experience with that.
Ditto. The one that sounded hoarse in my quarantine pen cleared up right away once I gave her Sulmet. She wasn't sneezing though. I do think you should separate her from the others. Quickly.
I think I might have gotten my first duck egg today. It's small and white, and first I thought it was Finger the minorca's egg, though it was in a bottom nesting box and Finger lays in the top ones. Kung Pao lays in the bottom, but her eggs are still teeny tiny. So I figured Finger had laid in the bottom, but I just gathered one of her eggs from the top box. It's the same size as Finger's (small pullet size,) and when I compare them, it has the tiniest cream tint to it. So faint that you'd think it was white if you didn't compare the eggs side by side.

Sheryl, what do you think? Also, I'm still very puzzled about whose egg that was when you came over to get grapes. I haven't seen another one like it since, but it was the size that Finger started out laying. She's now up to the size of a standard first pullet egg.

I guess maybe I could crack this one open and see if it has a donut spot in it. If it does, it's duck for sure.
Congrats on the new egg! Did you crack it open yet to see?
Stupid, unreliable craigs list person really capped off a less than lovely day for me.

fun times catching and loading 4 hens in a box, cramming the box into my small car and waiting at a gas station for 25 minutes to have no one show up.
Oh Man! That stinks!
i agree, nice looking ducks, Julie. And the australorps are very nice looking, too. Hope the swap goes well for you all.

thanks for the empathy, Ron and aubrey. I just hate putting out that effort for nothing. and my poor girls were probably so confused. I wish I could go to the swap but we have soccer photos and a game. It was time to renew my CL posting so maybe someone else will come along.

Oh, I am soooo grumpy today. Hassles at work and my sinuses are bothering me again. Ok, vent over. have a good night everyone
Haha! Your venting episodes are sure shorter than mine.

Don't blame you for being sick of the sinus infections! That sounds miserable. :(

Hoo Boy! We are finally settling down here. The walk was yesterday and it was just wonderful! So many people came out to show their support. We missed you Aubrey! Hubby's speech came out great!!! He was in such a hurry to start the walk though that the news crews couldn't find him to interview him but the Alzheimers Assoc. folks stepped in and that was great because they know a lot more about the cause than we do!

We had a fantastic morning walking around the lake with the kids and grand kids though. It was a super special time for us all! The grand kids took turns riding in the wheelchair with me and the kids complained (laughingly) that Dad was leaving them in the dust.

It did sneak up fast didn't it? Next year we'll all do it together. :)

I don't think it was a duck egg. It was too creamy colored. So we're still waiting.

Sorry I haven't been on! The canning is letting up a little, but I feel a little guilty that I still haven't had time to get those gardening links up, so I've been avoiding the thread a little bit. It's nice to see an end in sight, though. Even if it's still hours and hours and hours and hours of canning... Two more friends have offered us fruit from their trees, and we refused both.

LOL! Very funny! (I finally got it to load) I used to have the slinky one in my signature. The battle of wits one I had as a bumper sticker when I was in my 20s. Still goodies!

Haha! You know Missy is busy when she turns down free fruit! Jeez don't avoid us because of the gardening links. With the kids visiting, the puppy's pen and the walk I wouldn't have had time to create the gardening page anyway. Hopefully life will get a little easier now that most of that is behind us (the puppy's pen already needs to be bigger, they are growing like weeds). The only big thing left to do is get the peachick's run area done. Oh and get the shingles on the shed and the coops. :)

I can't believe I can see an end in sight for all the projects we had around here! I kept saying we were hoping to get it all done before winter but I didn't believe it would really happen!

The event and walk sounds like it was a resounding success! Congrats to Steve - did he make the evening news?
