Nevadans?

You could probably use cardboard boxes or craft paper. It's just more expensive. And I'm sure manure killing the lawn is the point... they don't want grass growing up through the garden.

I didn't have any problems seeing Aubrey but then again she came to my house.

Touche!

Many newspapers have switched to using soy-based ink because it is non-toxic and therefore more environmentally friendy. I would check to make sure what kind of ink is used by the paper you want to use for gardening purposes.

BTW I thought that video was really cool Missy!

Holy COW, andalusians are loud! I've been trying to incorporate them with the other chickens, and since they've been roaming around together, today I locked them out of the small coop, hoping they'd go into the big one with the others. Nope, of course they didn't. They roosted on top of the small coop. So I went out to grab them and put them in the big coop. I think they roused the whole neighborhood! If we ever have raccoons get in the coop, I know these two will be a very effective alarm! None of the more bulbous chickens make any kind of a screeching like this.

I think I may have warned you... they can scream!

Hey everybody... I have a problem.

One of my andalusians went broody and we gave her some eggs from my daughter's Golden Campines. One hatched. As if that isn't bad enough, the broody won't accept the chick. (I hate it when young birds go broody!)

So... does anybody have a hatchling they wouldn't mind rehoming? Doesn't really matter what it is, as long as its healthy. This little guy/gal is gonna need some company. It's oblivious today but that won't last long.

Please, PM me if you know of some?

Boy howdy, I'm tellin ya! I really hope they figure out the new coop soon, or someone's going to report us for murdering chickens over here! They're normally very shy and quiet, just not when you grab hold of them in the middle of the night. But they sure look good strutting around my yard!

Baby chicks... I have a broody sitting, but she's not going to be lucky enough to get anything left under her. I don't think anyone has babies right now.

My egg count has been way down, too. Oh, and an update on the Black Am breeding experiment in the smaller pen. The gals immediately stopped being broody, and as far as I can tell, they stopped laying, too, unless they did a really good job of hiding the eggs. The good sister made a break for it back to the main pen one day when I was in there giving them fresh water. Then, somehow a male CA quail got in the small pen. I opened the access door to the coop 'cause every time I would go in there he would hop into the coop. He got out fine but Poppy and 'Tude both made a break for the main coop while I was doing that. I figured out how the quail got in (the top netting had come loose on the far side), but since Sis was already back in the main coop, and neither she nor 'Tude were broody or even laying anymore, I decided to just let them all stay in the main coop until Spring.
