None of yours have every laid an egg?
LOL. I worry more about kids under 18 giving too much info. Some sick folks out on the net that can sound extremely normal, even caring, when they are really trying to pump for more info so they can target kids. I still don't like to post when I am leaving for a vacation (We take a big one once every ten years or so hahaha) or even for the weekend unless I have a house full of adults while I'm gone.Tall redhead with a frizzled polish. Got it. I'm about 6 foot tall, built like a Viking, with waist-length blonde hair. And my husband just plain looks like a Viking with glasses.
I used to be more careful about what I post on the internet. I think it's my age that's worn that away. I'm 36, WAY past the sensitive age of internet predators, and still below the age of the sugarmama con job. And anyone who spends enough time reading my posts knows it's absolutely pointless to try to rob me or steal my identity.
Used to be that way. Read comments below.I didn't have any problems seeing Aubrey but then again she came to my house.
I'm like Sunny about putting manure on the lawn and growing potatoes. The scariest part of the whole thing is the newspaper. People don't understand newspaper ink isn't good for people to eat nor grow anything in. It's a hazardous waste so to speak. People who use newspapers usually buy the left over bulk from the newspaper companies. The bulk hasn't been printed on.
Yea that's what I was gonna say. Most inks used now are non toxic, soy based inks. Cheaper to use and makes them recyclable. Only non recyclables use the old inks and they have to list this. Means it's rare to find anyone that still uses the old inks. Not used in newspapers anymore I know. Maybe in a few books or magazines. Many newspapers have switched to using soy-based ink because it is non-toxic and therefore more environmentally friendy. I would check to make sure what kind of ink is used by the paper you want to use for gardening purposes.
BTW I thought that video was really cool Missy!
My egg count is waaaaay down too,None of mine are. Jerk is still broody, and Noodle isn't anymore but still isn't laying. My egg count is way down anyway, probably because of the seasons.
Very interested in learning more about this. Will pm you now, sorry about the breeding mishaps. I need to do some serious rearranging for my breeding pens too before next spring. My egg count has been way down, too. Oh, and an update on the Black Am breeding experiment in the smaller pen. The gals immediately stopped being broody, and as far as I can tell, they stopped laying, too, unless they did a really good job of hiding the eggs. The good sister made a break for it back to the main pen one day when I was in there giving them fresh water. Then, somehow a male CA quail got in the small pen. I opened the access door to the coop 'cause every time I would go in there he would hop into the coop. He got out fine but Poppy and 'Tude both made a break for the main coop while I was doing that. I figured out how the quail got in (the top netting had come loose on the far side), but since Sis was already back in the main coop, and neither she nor 'Tude were broody or even laying anymore, I decided to just let them all stay in the main coop until Spring.![]()
ETA: Hey, anyone in the market for a really nice Ford 8N tractor, with box scraper? PM me if you are.
Quote: I have plenty of that small bird netting! Sounds like fun! Maybe I should do 2 strips of potatoes and see which one does better. Normal sandy dirt or his method. I'm betting his method works better since my soil is so sandy and he is adding the manure to his and protecting the seedling potatoes, from grubs etc, with the paper layer. The bird netting will cut down on other predators coming in to munch the seed potatoes as well. It would require some good staking but could stay put until harvest since water goes right through it.
BTW I did get it to load eventually. Saw it in very small sound bites at a time but it was a great video.![]()

I have really been enjoying the two varieties I planted, Purple Viking and Gold Rush. The Purple Vikings are like the red potatoes you buy at the store in texture, while the Gold Rush are a variety of Russet. Both are of course far better than the store potatoes!I'm going to be making a mass order to the same potato source that I did last year. I'll let you know when the time comes. I was going to give everyone the site, let them choose their potatoes and prepay me for those and their share of postage... and if anyone wants less than the 2.5-lb bags, I'd use the extras. The banana fingerlings were a massive hit.
