Nevadans?

OK gotta order some cookie decorating supplies then I'm gonna try again to sleep. Brain is going 100mph in 6 different directions... makes it hard to shut down and sleep. Got a few things organized and started though so that should help my brain to ease up on me a bit. :)

Good night all! Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

African burgers are made with meat and have a LOT of cayenne and red pepper flakes. Some onion, sugar, garlic, paprika, chili powder, bread crumbs, and egg for binding. They're steamed in their shape, then soaked in BBQ sauce until ready to serve. Sahara served them on gluten-free bread with a red cabbage slaw on top.
Wow, does Sahara do all of that by herself? I'm very impressed!

Hey, Nevadans! Just one political observation here..... In a mere 36 hours we'll awaken to regular TV commercials about actual products! When was the last time you recall one of those? DH and I actually turned to WGN (Chicago station) just to avoid all the mudslinging.

But -- uh-oh -- probably not normal commercials for long because we're diving headlong into the Christmas commercialism season. "Ch-ch-ch Chia!" anybody?

We now return you to your normal and usual programming.....
My Mute button finger is really sore - it's been getting quite a workout recently!

Not to mention the phone calls. The last count on phone calls was 18, just for today from 3pm to almost 4pm. Thank goodness for caller ID. Don't forget the people ringing your doorbell asking you to go vote. It's been going on here far too long. I'm so ready for this to end! I'm very thankful I don't live in Florida. There's so much going on there right now. My sister has removed her house phone. My father and other sister did early voting and left the state for a mini vacation in Myrtle Beach. One of my Uncles also got rid of his house phone as well. Friends are fighting amongst themselves because they believe in different candidates and are no longer friends. What a crazy election we are having.
They mostly call my house during the day while I'm at work, so I just have a lot of messages on my machine to delete. Like Sunny, I'm in the boonies so no one comes ringing the bell for anything, not even Halloween! The only time anyone comes up to my door that I don't know, it's UPS or FedEx.

LOL another of your late night posts (for the rest of you, we were laughing about her late night posts Saturday when Sunny and Steve visited).

11 am for lunch works fine for me. They must have broccoli soup or I will be one dissatisfied customer! not really, because they have good food anyway.

There's still quite a bit of guidance involved. But I'm able to walk away from the kitchen more and more. She has the basic cooking techniques down, but I help a lot with the intermediate stuff, like how egg works as a binding and adjusting dry ingredients.

i love broccoli soup, too. when the first person orders it on the show day, we will all be waiting with bated breath to see if they have it.
Haha! I hope she never sees the conditions of those commercial egg ranches! She'll never eat eggs again!!!

I know. that's what I tell her. with my eggs, you know exactly where the chickens live, what they're eating, etc. and the eggs are super duper fresh. oh well.
My tomatillos didn't get mature, either. I just picked them green, and they'll make a nice tart salsa. Actually, my heirloom purple tomatillos that volunteered from last year did lots better than the Mexican ones that I started in March. The seeds sprang up everywhere I hadn't set down red plastic, and I could have had a full bed of them if I wanted to. (I didn't... I wanted tomatoes there.) So most of the tomatillos in my freezer are from the purple ones. Which don't actually get purple until the sun shines on them, and just on the outside.

Hear! Hear! Can't wait for the end of phone calls and ads. I just watched the local news one day last week and every single ad was political. not one other ad. crazy!

we have been unplugging our phone every night and i love caller id. the budget would have to get quite a bit tighter before I'll give that up.
Cool. I'm gonna order it for you.
Just when I was starting to miss TV, you come on here and thoughtfully take a moment to remind me of how blessed we truly are. Thank you!

Ahhhhh... This year I sent all political calls to an extra cell phone (my Mom's old phone, which we were paying for through our family plan) when we registered to vote after moving. It has been very peaceful around here since that phone is rarely turned on. Nobody comes knocking, out here in the boonies, telling us to vote either. We already voted last week during early voting so it means nothing at all to us at this stage.

Quote:
Haha! I guess that makes us country hicks since we don't live in city limits. Weird that I am so at peace with that label. heehee
that extra cell phone move was brilliant. I'll have to remember that.

actually store rasied chickens have VERY strict diets. They have there own nutritionist which i think is a bit over kill.
Its just a strict diet of garbage. Mass kept poultry eats corn and soy and thats about it. That is exactly why store bought eggs have three times the cholesterol and only a fraction of vitamins that home-raised eggs have. its just unhealthy muck.

plus, they are locked in tiny cages where the can barely move, the birds above poop on them. They have barely any feathers, they just have miserable lives. And when they have their first birthday, they are slaughtered and tossed into the landfill.

mine were like tiny marble sized fruits. that's interesting that the purple ones did well. oh no, I can see myself planting those next year and they probably won't do anything. but maybe with my super chicken poop enriched dirt, I will have better luck. actually the tomatillo plants have always grown well but the fruit production has lacked for me.
That's what always happens to me with my tomatoes - the plants get huge but I never get any fruit, at least not until a few days before the first frost kills them all off!

Actually they usually end up in pet food at that point. Nothing is ever wasted!
