I have Lionheads covered in chicken poop! Not intentional, so I don't recommend housing them or guinea pigs together either. I have 2 bucks that I think they pooped on on purpose! Stinkin birds!

Sunny I used to live on lemon water and lemon and honey when I was singing. I woundn't even attemt to sing anymore, but so glad my tree is producing this year. I've wanted to drink that stuff just for GP.

I've always for decades wanted to take an Alaskan cruise.

I can't remember what else I came in here for now. Old age is a bummer!

The only thing that I have ever used, Sunny, is a lozenge. I use the Halls Honey Lemon lozenge. Will you be singing longer than 3 minutes or so? If you can't stick the lozenge in your cheek and still sing, maybe you can use it up until the time you perform. I am able to stick it in my cheek and be fine. It moisturizes my throat enough to get me through it. There is also a product on the market, I'm not sure of the name but something like Moisture Drops, also a lozenge. I don't know of any teas, sorry.
Yeah I am always sucking on a lozenge before I sing but there's no way to keep one in your mouth while you sing. It'll be fine I'm sure. Just fighting a dryness I usually don't have to deal with right now. Darn weather!

Hey Sunny,
Can you give some examples of romantic torch songs and hit parade songs? I've never heard songs described like that. What is this group you are trying to put together?
OK, when I went to look up a link for you I realized that the concept is being used again in the UK to describe modern music hits. It's also the name of a group now. They've both borrowed this term from the hit radio show The Hit Parade that featured the top songs of the week. It ended in 1959, the year I was born. Here is more info on it, Hit Parade. Popular songs included all kinds of music from 1935-1959 (it was on television the last few years). Some of the songs I love from this era are Cheek to Cheek, Stormy Weather, I Don't Know Enough About You, On a Slow Boat to China, Come On-a My House, jeez I could go on and on.

Torch singers are singers that perform romantic, sultry love songs and include Ella Fitzgerald (I'll Never Fall in Love Again), Patsy Cline (Crazy), Peggy Lee (I'll be Seeing You), Diana Krall (Why Don't You Do Right?), Etta James, Lena Horne, Julie London even Adele. It's a certain style of performing a type of song and crosses over many genres. This term used to describe female singers only but is apparently used to describe some male crooners now too. Torch Singers

I am wanting to get a group together to do community gigs and CDs. I really need keyboard, guitar and drums. Preferably someone that can play by ear, but they must be able to change keys from what the music is written in.
Sunny, throat coat is awesome for your throat. Also all that honey you're consuming should be good too. Heck just drown the throat coat in honey! We also like to suggest our green with mint tea for sore throats at work but I know that's a lil different. Look up the main ingredients on throat coat and try to find something else similar if you really hate the flavor.
Also get on Facebook and post exactly what you want and have people share it. There are a LOT of good musicians in this town, you just need to network yourself to find them. Same thing with a good studio
I love mint tea! I bet that would work quite well because it will relax the vocal cords and help settle the stomach. Thanks!

Whoa a lot of posts went by while I was trying to write that post! Well the game is on and I keep getting distracted.

Whew! You had me scared for a minute there!

I have been in a few musicals, and the music director would walk around during lunch making sure that nobody was drinking anything with sugar in it.
Yeah, I love that throat coat stuff, drink it even when I don't need it, but it's not for everyone.
If you find another tea, tell me! I am very interested in tea, and throat coat works okay, but it's not perfect.
Yep. No sugar, no chocolate, no milk products, nothing acidic... That's why I used tea or warn water with nothing in it. It used to work like a charm but I didn't live in Reno back then.

Lemon is a big no no when you need to moisten the throat. Anything astringent like lemons will strip mucous membranes and leave your throat drier. It's great if you have thick mucous you want to cut though.

I've been able to do it. I used to sing all the time in the church worship team and I would keep the lozenge in my check, above my back teeth. Worked great for keeping my throat moisturized.

I can't imagine! Maybe it's the way I sing. My voice coach used to say "I want you to open your mouth so wide you could drive a truck through it!" I don't stretch it as much as he would have liked but I am a "big" voice singer. lol

Haha! You definitely weren't raised by a Mom like mine! A story comes to mind but it really would gross everyone out!!!

So I am getting ready to do my run, my flock will be enclosed in their large coop at night, but I was wondering if anyone has tips to do a run that a cat can't easily get into?? My coop is too large for one of those enclosed dog pens. I have a Bengal and his favorite thing to do is kill anything he can :( I was thinking run chicken wire across the run??

Also how is the best way to get into chickens? As I posted I am new to all this. Is it best to raise the from chicks or buy older ones? I heard their prime laying age is during the first couple years so I thought chicks might b the best way to go?

If you have strong enough sides, you can hang chicken wire across the top, I've done that before. But keep in mind how much snow you get (I can't tell where you are). If you get more than an inch of snow, I wouldn't suggest it. You have to go out under the stuff with a good strong stick and beat it til all the snow is off, otherwise it keeps piling up and could collapse your pen. If you build an entire frame of support under it though, it would work fine. Even then, I wouldn't do it if I got a lot of snow.
