Nevadans?

Thank you! Good luck finding a companion closer in age to Uno. I feel for you, it's a tough time of year to find chicks.

Daniel I could use 10 of those waterers myself. If you do order more be sure and let me know and I'll run my share over to you. I like the idea of saving on shipping. On these parts I've been ordering for my incubator some companies charge almost as much for shipping as the part costs!

DARN if I could depend on my "outlaws" to deliver I'd send VegasChick some chicks.
I have the 7 cochins that are 2weeks old, and 5 more to hatch under our hen this weekend.
Gunna have to git movin' on makin' space for everyone.

I met a chicken-lady in town yesterday and shared this Nevada BYC group with her.
Maybe she'll join up and join in.
She gave me a tip on gittin' my dogs to leave the hens alone so that I might be able to free-range them.
She tied a dead hen
tongue.png
around her dogs neck and made him wear it for a few days. Needless to say thar wernt much left of the bird after four days, and it stank to high heavens, but the dog NEVER touched another hen.
I aint to keen on sacrificin' a bird for the remedy, but I may try it on the rabbit eatin' the dogs have been doin'.....I'm fear'n they'll git some creepy disease
hmm.png

Anyone else have any remedies that are more friendly?

We spent a whopper in change for feed for 26 hens. Sure makes fresh eggs expensive when ya gotta spend sooooooo much in feed.
Outta the 26 layers we've been gettin' 7-9 eggs a day........so far. Once they're all layin' we'll be settin' up a stand
lau.gif
or I'll be searchin' for maaaaaaaaany new eggs recipes.

Gotta git the floors mopped befer the "outlaws" arrive.

Ya'll behave........uuuuuuuuuh as much s ya kin!

Hi Bloomie! I was wonderin' where all the Nevada folks were the last couple of days. All you Reno folks must be out lookin' at all the beautiful classic cars!

SunnyDawn and sparksNV. No problem. Will organize it to fit for everyone. I will also front the money if that is what is needed. I will simply divide cost of shipping by number of waterers ordered and add it to he per nipple cost.
Sunny I know where you are and no problem getting them from me to you. SparksNV I will have to get an idea of where you are and how we can meet up. give me a number of waterers you want. I highly recommend you take what you think you want and then add a few. I have found several extra places I want them and in my grow out pen I use three so they can be set a different height. that way all the age groups have one they can reach well.

anyone else want to get a few let me know. great way to at least test them out and see if they work for you. I know I want a dozen so will probably order at least 20. I might end up having a spare or two that way.

I will make a final call post before I actually place an order. other than that this is really fly by the seat of my pants and no idea how long it will be before that order goes in.

Penturner I would be interested in some also - have not tried them yet, but it would give the chickens a "clean - duck free" place to drink - maybe 10.....yea 10 sounds good. Course I hope the ducks do not take to nibbling on them.

The brats would empty the container quick.

Finally – some pictures – you just might be sorry

Flrpl – check out that tail – two feathers on one side, three on the other and all at the bottom, none from the top of the tail. No – there are no feather pickers in the group, so no one is plucking his bum.

Ponce De Leon (my little Lion) One of the four I had shipped from Wwmicasa (also who’s stock Dora and Columbus are from) – he is such an incredibly sweet cockerel. Here he is romancing the girls – he is now in with them.

The other trio – shipped with Ponce.

So there ya go, some of my "newer" chickens. I tried to stay away from BYC and make it my reward for getting pictures done for a couple different threads...........it was so-o-o hard, and I could not do it, so I just visited in little tiny drops
tongue.png

I called them last Friday (Jones Feed) and they said they wouldn't get any in until next Friday, so....2 wks. Thanks for all your thoughts and efforts on poor Uno's behalf. I'm still looking.

ETA: I found this ad on CL. Maybe some of you with roos may be interested in helping out. They want hatching eggs locally and are interested in most anything but Leghorns. http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/grd/1882845105.html

Also
, great pics HorseFeathersNV. Those are beautifowl!

Vegaschick, I think thats an old English game. I cant tell from the pic if shes a banty or not, but i have a couple of the sweetest little hens that are OEGBs. Sincer there are about a million colors, i dont know if shes a pure bred or not. Theyre my fav types of chickens, since i got Austen.
