Nevadans?

I dunno on the BS.... The ones I've seen are pretty much dark with the gold coloring (frosting) on their heads. This hen looks to have multicolor (brown with lacing) throughout. (Okay...I'm not hep on my feather-descriptive terms) Barnevelder perhaps?

We adopted 3 hens from a local who needed to rehome them. Here is "Daffy", so named because when excited, she makes a duck noise. She is not a duck. She's a hen. But the former owners can't remember what kind of chicken she is. Does anyone have an idea what type of hen Daffy is? Bovans Nera ? Other?
She looks an awful lot like the Black Sex Links that I have. One of them has a lot more of the reddish-gold color than the other, though not quite as much as this one.

Penturner- thank you for the offer. I think we are going to go with something a little smaller. My oldest daughter has come up with a plan lol, we'll see how it goes.

I did some more research since I posted the pic of Daffy, and I believe you all are correct. I think she's a Black Sex-Link or Black Star. From what I've found, there is quite a possible variation of coloring with the black/red. We've had her (and 2 others from the same family - a buff cochin and red leghorn) since Tuesday. They were in "quarantine" inside the hen house for two nights and have been with the flock since Friday Am. So far, both Daffy (Black Star/Sex link) and Scarlett (Red Leghorn) have begun laying every day. Mildred, the older Buff Cochin is holding her own, but hasn't layed yet. THANKS SO VERY MUCH with all your advice. I appreciate it. - Mary
