Nevadans?

JackieG, I also recommend Lemmon Valley! My 6 year old is going to Lemmon Valley Elemntary next year, and it has AWESOME reviews, the teachers were lovely when we met them, and the parents gush about how awesome it is. As an anti-public schooler, I still give it the thumbs up.

As well, lemmon Valley is zoned as rural, so you can have livestock, chickens, etc. without worrying about neighbors.

Plus, my six year old would love a friend! Especially one who 'gets' our life, most of her old friends (we moved here in September, and she still sees her friends from Sacramento) don't really understand the concept of chickens, chores, gardening, etc.

It's official!!
My moving day is set!
I'm moving to Claremore OK. Bringing all my rabbits with. I can not wait to leave

Wow, congratulations! I hope Oklahoma treats you well. From what I know of it, it sounds right up your alley. You'll keep popping on here, right?

Here are this springs ducklings!! They're almost six weeks old.

Hahaha! Did you hatch them or buy them? And how is the cayuga doing for you guys?

Chicken picks!

I'm having a baby-naming contest on Facebook to see if anyone can come up with something original.

Oh'no welcomes the new babies.

Keeping close watch on the mini-coop.

Jerk is clamped down tight on those chicks!

Now I am EXTRA bummed! My husband was "second choice" for the position and the other candidate accepted yesterday. So we're out. We're still looking to move though, and Reno is still on our radar! Good for you for teaching your children through life lessons! I grew up on a small "farm" in Michigan and I greatly appreciate the values and life lessons I learned through that experience! I wish the same for my children, but it is not possible with the strict HOA and laws imposed on us down here in Henderson. :( Hoping to get the heck out of here soon!

Ooh yeah, one day last summer, I pulled out half of a watermelon out of the fridge, that we hadn't eaten for some weird reason. The chickens loved it... then the ducks got to it! My blue Swedish drakes had red bellies! They dove in so vigorously that they had melon dripping from the tops of their heads!

So uh.... I have a confession. We went to Green's Feed to load up on supplies today, since my husband got a bonus from work. They had "ameraucana" chicks there. (Hehehe notice the quotation marks. I'm sure most of us will get the joke.) Anyway... I figured, since I have 2 broodies... so yeah, there are 4 new babies under Jerk. She's going to stay in her nesting box with them all night, then tomorrow when the weather's nicer I'll move them to the mini-coop.
what happened to no chicks this year? I must strengthen my resolve. If I didn't have that grumpy neighbor, I would probably already have at least 6 chicks this spring.
I was actually thinking about something like that, but I need to talk to my mom about it. And congrats on the new chicks!! What does Russ think? lol/ Ariel picked out two Silver Campines and an Ameraucana chick from Greens about two weeks ago, she loves them. They're her first chicks that are only hers, I'm starting her young, haha.. She's so adorable, she freaked out when I told her one of them would lay green eggs.
so cute! I bet she'll be a great chicken mama.
That picture actually cracks me up, that's why I posted it. They kept trying to eat my phone camera eye. Sorry for the multiple post guys!! I upload directly from my phone onto BYC now, I found it's easier than transferring the pics to the computer.

By the way, I completed my first Quilt block. Not bad.

I hope I do well on the whole thing.

The weather is so nice we moved the chicks to the front porch for the day, they are so funny trying to figure out whats going on. Our golden is on guard duty he's decided that those are his chicks LOL.
that's good he's in protective mode!

Awwwww man! I hope you get another chance for this area.

Funny, that's what my husband said! At least I have a broody! The dog kennel is currently in use with baby rabbits.
