Boys are so much fun! I have 4 and one girl!
I remember seeing the pics of some of your GKs. Sooo cute!

CONGRATS SUNNY!!! When is she due?
I can't wait to see pics. I love babies.
She's due the second week of July. :) I love babies too! Steve likes to say it doesn't matter what kind of babies. I love them all.

Congratulation Sunny! Know how you feel. We have 4 granddaughters too, and 1 grandson we enjoy him. My husband likes buying him trucks and boy things. The only problem is he lives in Big Bear Ca, and is so far away we don't see him like we would like too. Are kids are scattered all over, so enjoy your grand kids if they are close.
Our kids and Grandkids live in Fort Bragg and San Jose. I agree with you 100%. It's so sad that we don't get to see them very often. :(
BTW it's Sunny with a U. I only say that because Sonny is a guy's name. I've got to hang on to what's left of my femininity. Hahaha! My son always tells me I'm such a "guy".

I know he doesn't mean it in a bad way but.....

I wish I could get some of y'all's "girl luck. I had four boys, my sister had two, my cousins all had boys. Not only did I go without, I don't even have a little girl relative!! Easter, with those adorable dresses, is a bad time of year for me.

I am happy with my boys though!
Oh that is too sad!!!!! I love making and buying adorable little things for the girls! It is fun, fun, fun. :)

I will share in the shouting match as well. We are expecting our first grand baby on July 25tg. 5 days before my 40th birthday!!!!

Hey hey I notice some fellow thread jumpers over here;-) !!!

Ahh, not peeking! So exciting!

Congrats Sunny!!!!!

My oldest grandchild is my grandson Cisco. Then the girls started and when Dakotah was 1, Donovan was born. Then a bunch of girls again. Thank goodness Bill had grandsons and a couple of mine were rewards for new SILs And only one of Dakotah's other brothers has kids, but they had only boys going on in that family including Dakotah. His brother has 2 girls, but those are my girls too. . I'll take em anyway I can get them, First great grandbaby was Elias in Dec. I know bill's probably got one or 2, but I never hear from any of them. But that's the way the grands started out too, so I'm not going to be surprised if a bunch of girls follow. When I was pregnant with Dakotah, my son Miguel was 15. I asked him if he'd like to have a baby brother and he says "Where you gonna get him???" I just looked at him and he looked so embarrassed and says "ohhh." Poor kid had 3 older and 1 younger sister till then. Dakotah's about 4 inches taller than him and he can't get over how tall his baby brother is. Dakotah is a hermit. We never lived anywhere where there were kids his age and he just never went outside much, because he had no one to play with. I've been worried about him, but then I have to remember Cisco was the same way and he's doing fine now at almost 22!!!! But Miguel and I used to hang out and do a lot of things. Dakotah just has no interests.

Ok, I have a chicken health issue. It looks like one of my australorps has a prolapsed vent and possibly is also eggbound. do those two things co-occur? I bathed her in warm water and put her inside in the cat carrier with water. She drank quite a bit of water. the cat carrier is slightly small so I may try to get something a little larger. If anyone has any advice, let me know. I looked up a few things. one said to use vetericyn VF hydrogel to push the stuff back in.

We said goodbye to Original tonight, the only chicken who had earned a lifetime place on the farm

I called the State of Nevada to find out exactly what those bugs were that was attacking me and I didn't get an answer. The paper I filled out asked where did the bugs come from, inside a house, building or outside and such. I put house. It asked where in the house, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and such, so I put bedroom since that was where they were attacking me the most. I gave them everything. I finally called Jeff and he said he didn't know what they were since they do not attack plants. I have no clue why they even asked the questions if he couldn't tell what they were if they didn't attack plants. So in the end I'll never know what really was attacking me. All the bugs are gone.
glad you got that under control.
what a bunch of beautiful chicks, chickee!

Oh Yeah! I'M GONNA BE A GRANDMA AGAIN!!!!!

I waited to say anything cause my DD lost the last babies she was pregnant with (twins) but I have the official OK to go ahead and tell everyone now! IT'S A BOY!!!
Those of you that don't know, we have four grandchildren already. All girls! Now don't get me wrong. I adore all of my Granddaughters! They are each so precious and so different from each other and we have a blast with them. BUT, after 4 granddaughters, we are definitely ready to finally have a boy in the family!!!
congrats to you and Steve! how exciting.

Wow, crazy. I was just wondering if that was standard for breed. Mine with the prolapsed vent is australorp. Plus, I picked up some chicks yesterday, and one looks like it already has a prolapsed vent. It's australorp, too. I think the eggbound thing is going to happen with a prolapsed vent, because it gets so enflamed and swollen that they often can't even poop. Lacy Blues (I think... I didn't go back a few posts before posting this) suggested Preparation H for the swelling. I've also heard that sitting them in warm water can relax the vent to help the egg out.

Sweet is still alive, and her vent is looking much better. She never got eggbound, but I still find australorp eggs with a little blood on them.

oh, Missy, sorry I forgot to pick up my potatoes. I will make a note for myself for tomorrow. that's interesting that your australorp also had that. i have had eggs with blood on to. I guess that was from her. so she still looks the same but has been drinking water. I brought her a little bit of food. She can turn around in the cat carrier so even though it is small, I don't feel too bad for one day. I maybe can run out tonight to get something bigger and maybe some prep h.

I let Kirstie know that there are people on this thread interested in her Golden Cuckoo Marans. She is super busy right now, so it might take a little time for her to get back to me. I do know of another source but I think Kirstie's are nicer birds. They are nice and hefty
big_smile.png
I am seeing some that are on the scrawny side.
Aubrey and Lacy Blues, Kirstie has a couple of goregous "Splash" colored golden cuckoo Marans rooster chicks that are 6 weeks old. They are not an accepted color, but she said she grew one out to a year of age and had a hard time letting him go because he was SO beautiful. She does not have any pullets available at this time. If you would like to contact her about them, her BYC name is Harris5.

Yes, I recommended Preparation H.

Don't assume it was the Australorp who had bloody eggs. You should probably go out and check all your girls vents. A mite infestation, or lice, chew on the vent tissues because the birds' can't reach them back there. Anyway, it causes scabbing and when an egg passes through the vent, the scabs can open up and bleed on the egg. So... check all your girls back ends.
