Nevadans?

The yellow dripping has stopped now so I know the egg moved. She looks really good right now. I put the KY in her vent tonight to help her along and she's getting another bath if she hasn't laid the egg by morning. I'll do the vinegar wash as soon as she gets the egg out. I'm really hoping she makes it through this.
I'm really sorry to hear this! Hopefully the yellow dripping isn't a broken egg in her

I have never had an egg bound hen. None of my Ameraucanas lay big eggs. I am thinking it must be what you are feeding her. A friend's Wyandottes lay huge eggs and we think it is because they free range and eat lots of greens. I sure hope she makes it! It sounds like you are doing everything possible to save her.

She didn't make it.

It's also how much water they drink that makes the egg sizes as well as food content. She's been eating chick starter with free choice calcium like everyone else.

Candy - 3 people are hatching her eggs right now and I'm going to put her last egg and the 2 eggs Amanda and Wilma are laying right now under my broody. She was super sweet and happy. I'm sorry I wasn't able to save her.

Sorry! I had my first egg bound hen who didn't make it a few weeks ago. Not fun to see that. She wasn't the nicest girl, to me or the other hens, but hated seeing her all sad looking. :(

You and me both! An egg didn't break inside her, she had an egg stuck, I couldn't reach it with anything I tried. The mixed yolk was another egg that released from her while the first egg was stuck. I couldn't get the vinegar wash to it either to stop it because of that egg.

Everyone loved her. We are all sad. Amanda and Wilma won't leave each other, they follow each other around all over the place.

Hi All
So you were right about the chick that I asked about a week or so ago. It has turned out that it is a he :-(. So now I need to find a good forever home for him. So if anyone is interested or knows someone who wants a roo please let me know.

Are you in the Reno area? I would be willing to take him if you are ok with the possibility of him becoming dinner. I have 12 10wk old birds that were straight run(grantedI only think 2 might be roos at this point) and I plan on keeping the friendiest 1 or 2 boys of the bunch.

I live in Fernley and I would really rather him not becoming dinner. My kids are bummed because we can't keep it. He is only 10 weeks old and has started to crow so that is why he needs to find a new home. He is pretty friendly and is handled by my kids all the time.

Ah Sheryl I'm so sorry. Always the ones we get the closest to it seems. I feel so bad for you.
