Nevadans?

Thank you Chickee! Finding good roosters is harder than I thought. Ugh. Don't want to bring anyone in to mess with what I have going with egg color and leg feathering. :/ Chicken addiction = lots of research and stress. Lol

Your welcome. I know what you mean! Sunny's birds are awesome and you sure don't want to mess them up!

I bought wheaten Marans eggs from a breeder in Texas that shows her birds and does very well with them. I hatched 3 roosters and 3 pullets. They are beautiful, especially one of the roosters who looks to be show quality. I am going to use him with my golden cuckoo Marans next year to create a new line. Egg color is really dark. I have 3 GCM hens that lay good dark eggs that I will use with him. I also added a new line of wheaten/blue wheaten Ameraucanas, so looking forward to hatching out chicks next year!

Nice! Super blue eggs? My Ameraucana girls from you are really pretty. Lighter feathering than everyone else. Love them. They are super broody too. And my OEs from you. Almost as dependable as my silkies. Lol

Ms Sunny! I seriously wish you were still breeding. I haven't been on here in ages, but I'm on the hunt for a really nice BCM rooster for the girls I hatched from you and Wynette. I don't want to just put any rooster with them and ruin what you've worked so hard for.

And, wow...where is everyone?? I've been super busy, and apparently everyone is too. Lol (hello ...hello...hello...echo...echo...echo...........)

Sorry I didn't get to this earlier. We just had our youngest get married and the preparations were crazy! I do have a few marans from Wynette's lines. I hatched out a dozen chicks a few weeks ago but it's too early to see which will be the best roos.

I only plan on keeping one roo so if you're still interested, shoot me a pm. They were born May 21st.

Let me know Sunny. If you think one or two look nice I'm always looking for a good rooster for them. I have some eggs from Wynette in the incubator now, but last time only 1/3 cockerels looked good enough to stick in with all the girls. :) He ended up getting killed by our Orpington rooster. (He's gone now) Freak accident. One peck to the head over some scratch and he literally just fell over. Must've hit him just right. It was crazy. I've seen much worse when the boys are trying to figure out who's boss.

Yeah that is freaky! If you have eggs from Wynette cooking now you'll probably get some roos to choose from.

Out of 17 chicks that hatched only 2 are girls. I have a mess of boys to choose from. I only kept the ones from the darkest eggs but it's too soon to tell which ones are keepers.

I hate to keep feeding all of them but with marans it's hard to tell which will be the best until 9 mos to over a year (after 1 year molt). So, unless they show DQs early, I will keep these boys until I see who's superior. I'd like to keep 2 for myself (if neighbors can deal) but with 15 boys...

Anyway I'll keep an eye on development over the next several months, you do the same with any boys you get and we'll compare notes and pics later.

:)

Holy moly! 15 boys!? I get a lot of boys from our eggs, but that's crazy. Ugh....

Can't wait to see what hatches. ...hopefully more pullets. Oh geez...

Yeah it's a record amount of boys for me! Never seen anything like it.

Hopefully you'll have a better ratio of pullets to cockerels.
