Nevadans?

Chickens we have a silver sebright Roo, 2 buff orps, 2 dominiques, an ameraucana, and a silkie mix.
Goats are still in the works. We have plans to get two Nigerian Dwarf doelings. I dont want to just jump into anyones old goats, so when I see the right ones come along we will get them. But Im super picky, I want a Tricolor and Id like a blue eyed. Lol Will probably get registered and bred for milking.

Welcome ChicNGoat!! I live in south Reno. I'm out in Washoe Valley 2x week as I volunteer and Canine Rehabilitation Center & Sanctuary.

We've had chickens for a little over a year. Our older hens are a Leghorn and Golden Comet and our three new girls (just started laying) are Easter Eggers! Green eggs are fun!

Welcome to the north! I'm in Sun Valley. How many girlies do you have? I started with 3 and now have 40, lol! 7 are roos I'm trying to rehome though ;-)

I can totally see that Happening ^^
I started off thinking I wanted Barred rocks, EE Welsumer, and RIR, then Somehow I saw this ad for a beautiful little 5 month old sebright roo.. and I ended up with him and two buff orps, then I saw an ad for Dominique pullets, and thought OMG they are soo cute! Off I went to Reno to pick them up(was supposed to get just 1). Saw them and had to have two, and somehow ended up with this 2 week old silkie Mutt chick in my hand, and my daughters talked me into getting the chick(fingers crossed its a pullet :fl ) and then I realized after all the chickens I got, None of them where what I origionally planned. I really wanted a colorful egg basket, so I ran down to the shop (Kruses) and prayed they had an ameraucana or two left... they had One left, someone came just an hour before me and grabbed the second to last! So I took her home so she could sister up with our other chick, so when they are turned out into the coop with the other older chickens, they will at least have eachother during the initiation process of chickenhood! I think maybe early next year we will look into getting some more bantams, our Roo is a bantam, and silkie mix is a bantam, the rest are standards, but I want chocolate brown eggs and green eggs too... Bantam Welsumer and Bantam EE here I come! :yiipchick I may have gone slightly off the deep end, as you can tell. Bwahahaha

Nigerians are a great choice! We started out with them this year and love them. You'll have to find someone local who has a buck to breed to for babies/milk if you don't have space for another pen for boys. We started out wanting two does..ended up with 5. Ha! And then my husband saw the bucks and now we have a buck and wether. Add that to 100+ chickens...super busy, but our kids love it. :)

Good local breeders are already taking deposits for next years babies. No guarantee on colors, but have to jump on well bred babies early. :)

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm in Wingfield Springs and we are gearing up to a buy a house in the spring/summer and I think I've successfully convinced my Fiancé to let me build a chicken coop and start a small flock once we get settled in even though she thinks I'm crazy for wanting them. Right now I'm just reading everything I can so when the time comes I can do it right. Unfortunately my better half is pretty set on living in Sparks (but said she'd consider Damonte Ranch) so I'm hoping that Sparks changes their ordinance soon and allows backyard chickens.

Just wanted to introduce myself, glad to see that there's some local knowledge around.
