Nevadans?

Here is an old Nevada people thread, only 1 or 2 still post I think. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6637

evonne-We
have a variety; NHR, RIR, BO, EE, RIW, BR, EE, cochin, Delaware, Welsummer, various bantam, Silkie, Spitz, polish, leghorns, hamburgs, marans, penedesenca, kraienkoppe, Lakenvelder, light Brahma, sumatra, wyandottes, blue andalusians, olive eggers, and more. Just let me know what you are interested in and I'll see if I have it. I'm not trying to make a killing on these birds either, just recoup the hatching egg cost and some feed. These are not hatchery birds but come from breeders from around the US, so if you would like to start a new flock or introduce new blood, here is your chance. They have been hand-raised from eggs 'til now.

ke_ben - I would be interested in knowing more about your Dels and seeing pictures. How long have you been breeding your line? Where did your parent stock come from? Are you breeding toward the standard? I am interested in purchasing eggs in a couple months and eggs shipped from the home state would be great.

I have just fired up my bator for my first full test run. First test I chickened out and put them under a new broody 8 days before hatch. I am testing the first run or two on my own eggs and then will be looking for shipped...........Dels are on my list. I currently have two pullets from Privett who I really enjoy, but am looking for birds closer to the standard than hatchery stock.

(If I have missed your posts in the Delaware thread, I am sorry - took me forever to read thru before posting)

wow... that's a LOT of breeds.. let alone having multiples of each bird.... i wish we could have that many....
i'm getting some hatchery Cuckoo marans in dec.... i'm going to see what happens with those...
but i really want a speckled egg laying welsummer or 2... or, if the babies from a welsummer roo would lay speckled eggs i might go that route instead...
and i'm wanting to pick up a few silkies.. i know it's odd, but i like the stright comb ones better than the walnut comb ones.. i'm not going to be showing.. just breeding for pets and i have a frazzled that i want to breed... also wanting a bantam cochin roo... but i think i'm waiting on that to see what i get in february from lynne out of her MFC project... i also kinda want a LF Cochin.. but i've heard they don't do well in the heat??
i want entirely too much... lol...

i think for right now, realistically i want a silky roo, and maybe a hen... in either b/b/s or white... my frazzle is black and she's why i want a silky.. to breed sizzles...
and MAYBE a welsummer... but i should probly wait on that one...

Sunny--sorry it seems like I've hijacked the thread, but I guess that it does bring it back to the top of the list so some others might see it.

Horsefeathers & evonne--PM me for further info so that I'm not messing with Sunny's thread and I'll be glad to answer. I only have one lousy pic of my Dellie cockeral (I can seem to get them to pose) that I got from BYC member-seriousbill. I have 3 pullets and 1 cockerel and I like them. They may be laying eggs now but don't have everyone penned separately yet so I'm not sure, it's hard to have a pen for every breed that I have as you can tell. That is one of the reasons I am thinning out some, I just have to get my wife to decide which breeds that she is sure she wants to keep. I have only 1 Wellie cockerel, a blue cochin LF cockerel, a columbian cochin hen, and a red silkie cockerel.

Not really a "vegas" type of person. One of things I found most funny in life is that when I tell people I live in Vegas, their face kinda lights up! I can only imagine what they are thinking.

In my opinion, Vegas isn't really a "Family" town, and I am a Family Guy. I do like Live music so I was able to see a bunch of concerts I couldn't see anywhere else, but for the most part, I am not a nightlife person and I don't gamble.

Oh, and YOU CAN"T WIN. You may win once and a while, but if you sit at the table long enough, they will get the money. They are not games of chance, they are games of attrition.

Plus, I am a PA student (for only 15 more days!) so I did much of my training in the county hospitals and homeless clinics. I have found that Vegas is home to the one of the largest homeless populations in the USA... They all live underground, just like the catacombs of Europe.

But back to chickens.

Kinda sad that when I am finally getting out of Nevada, I meet up with a bunch of chicken people there that have the same interests. Ke-ben has the very chickens that I am trying to get. I really like Delawares.

I would also be interested in some chickens or eggs that laid speckled eggs.

This thread really picked up! And it is nice to know that it is with active chicken lovers.

Evonne, you ought to PM the folks from the other thread and have them come over here to ensure this thread survies or doesn't get buried. it could be as good as the Arizona chickens thread. They are very active, trade birds, notify each other of deals, craigslist ads, and store specials.

Look at all of the connections made. At least I know someone in a place I go to now and then. Most of the Az people are in Phoenix and I almost never make it that way.

Right now I'm just looking for chicken folk. Originally I was looking to share an order of Ameraucanas but that order has been filled now. It would be nice to know of more folks close to me to buy/sell from or just talk chickens. My hubby and I go by Dutch Flat often on our way to see our kids and grandkids. Although I try to avoid the pass when the weather's not great. What elevation are you at there?

Sunny

I live in fernley

Cool, you're even closer. How are your chickens handling the cold?
