My Barred Rock girls lay eggs that look just like that, and they are pretty big eggs too. I do not know about the feather, it looks like it has a bit of brown in it but that could be lighting too. Maybe if you have Black sexlinks?

Hello folks! The feather looks like butt fluff off of almost any chicken. The speckled eggs similar to that come from my barred birds in general (BR and cuckoo marans), Welsummers, and lighter marans colors (white, blue splash, etc.). Some of the latter lay a gradient color, from blush to chocolate.

The white speckled one is from a Delaware. Sometime the BCM's lay dark speckled eggs.

I should try and get down to only 31.

The picture isn't very flattering, being in the transition pen and having feathers ruffled/bent after the trip from onthespot's place in So Cal, but here is Goody and his girls along with a young blue copper marans cockerel. The closest hen is one that I've had (rooster worn), the other hen and cockerel from Patty.

He is doing good... You probably did get lost in the shuffle, we have had sooooo many newbies lately.

Thanks all! The feather was just for fun. I was having fun shooting two that where stuck on an egg wile playing Minotaur's Maze with the kid and hubby; or would that be DH an DS? I hate abbreviation, can never remember what they stand for and don't have time to look them up. It just amazes me when people know what chicken laid what egg.
