I think we all have those nightmare visions. I've had quite a few chicks shipped though and have only had a couple of casualties.

hello there Nevadans!!

Just wanted to remind everyone of the NNPFA Poultry Show on November 19th in Reno at the Livestock Event Center on Wells Avenue. We hope to have close to 500 birds entered into the show this year! We were close last year.

If anyone is bored and wants to come set up tables and cages we can use your help on Friday!! This year we will have the Marans Club hosting an Egg Show!

I hope some of you will come out to the show (maybe even show some birds? deadline is November 7th) Tyler is our Youth Secretary!! My kids and I will be bringing some grey runners, grey calls, Muscovies, butterscotch calls, light brown and blue cream light brown Dutch, black bantam cochins phew! that is going to be a lot of work!!

I show some of my birds and never vaccinate. All my show birds come from breeders. My layes (from cackle) have never been vaccinated.

Can someone please turn the outside heater on? I don't want snow.

Unless you live close to a large flock it isn't usually needed. That being said it doesn't cost much to vaccinate and if you sell your birds later to someone who needs it...
I don't usually vaccinate for mareks but it's up to you.

I'm starting to wonder if anyone read my post about the egg show yesterday morning? The show is for marans' eggs and it costs $5 per entry. Each entry is 3 eggs. Color, shape, uniformity. shell density. Although this will be the first egg show I've seen I imagine these will all be considered. I posted the email address etc for the gentleman that runs the shows. His name is Peter Ovalle.
