Ha ha ha!!! Wow you guys! Miss a couple of days and miss a gazillion posts!!! Here I am Sheryl.
Ok took forever to read all these posts and I still may have missed something so holler if I ignore anything that was meant for me.
Genny!!! I am soooo sorry about Sylvia! She was such a sweetie!
BTW thank you for being such an awesome friend! Steve and I had a great time!!! Also thanks for the link on the inside workings of a chicken. Very informative!
I also checked out that other thread you linked and I saw no grit of any kind in that pile of crop leavings! Sheryl, normal dirt may help but it is much better for them to have grit! Sand or DG is much preferable, in fact the clay soil in the valley can cause problems as well, especially when no true grit is available to help them break food down. From what I've read on the subject lack of grit is most often the culprit of impacted crops.
Aubrey!!! First those new chickens of your's are adorable!!!!! SOOO CUTE! Second, OMG! I am so horribly jealous of that shed find!!! That is an amazing deal and it will make an awesome coop!!! GEEZ! I'm positively green right now!
Chickee I added you to the opening post! You are an official member of this thread now.
I thought I remembered having done this before but I'm probably thinking of our conversations on the CAL threads etc. Anyway, WELCOME!
Hi Missy, Ron, Seth, Elizabeth, Ed, Dee, VegasChick and Pam! Did I miss anyone? Man, I better not miss 2 whole days again! Takes too long to catch up!
Steve and I went to a Christmas Ball for his work last night and we had a blast. Then we went to my folk's complex for the Christmas performance/sing-a-long. There were so many performers this month that I only did 2 solos this time! It was so much fun seeing so many more folks getting involved in this monthly music event. There are folks bringing instruments now too.
It was really a lot of fun being able to sit back and enjoy the other performers as well. In fact the sax player (Alto sax) surprised me with a song dedicated to me. He and my Mom (my Mom's a wonderful pianist and usually has to do all the instrumentals for us by herself) played "When Sunny Gets Blue" which is a song I adore and no one has ever done for me before! I even asked him what he was performing today so we wouldn't overlap songs and he named several songs without letting this one slip. lol My Mom said they have been planning this for a month and have been practicing behind my back (I thought I had attended the only 2 practice sessions). Ha ha
OK, I'm pooped now. Gonna get my bones to bed early tonight. Good night all!!!
