Nevadans?

Ok, here's mine.

Cinnamon Logs
5 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 cups flour

Mix (I have put it all in food processor)
Roll in long rolls. Cut in 2-3" pieces. Roll in cinnamon and sugar
Bake at 325. Bake for 10-15 minutes

(It worked great in my food processor. I found it took 13-15 minutes at my elevation. You can use green or red sugar to make them look christmasy. I found that the shorter pieces looked better than long. I have not tried them with using all butter instead of shortening yet but I'm sure you could try and see what happens. )

Thanks! I'll try it and let you know how it turns out. So cool that you can make these in the food processor! I love most anything with cinnamon.

Can I get your recipe for the cardamom bread please? I love cardamom!

On the subject of baking, do you mind if I show off? My kids are gluten-free, so whenever we go to parties I always bring something they can eat. There aren't many gluten-free holiday desserts! This is just a chocolate cake with white frosting, but it was really fun to do.

I will post my cardamom bread recipe tonight.

They're not celiac, but they're gluten intolerant. My son is autistic, and if he eats gluten he gets violent. My daughter is "normal," but if she eats it she gets unreasonably emotional... we're talking about a 10-year-old having 2-hour temper tantrums. So it's highly controlled around here. My husband says I'm just easier to love if I don't eat gluten, but I'm currently off the wagon.

Missy that cake is beautiful, good work

so i am just having the worst day ever. in fact, its been YEARS since ive felt this badly or even had a day where i felt as if the rug was being pulled from under me.

It was just a yucky day at work. lots of rude people. lots of yucky attitudes. plus the girl i worked with today although extremely sweet was on my last nerve by the end of the night because i felt like the entire day i had spent following her with a wet rag to clean up the trail of devistation and mess she left behind her. ugh. anyways. it was an unusually moody day for me.
but to top it off, it is monday which meant that my shed guy was back in town and i could set up a time on wednesday to pick it up.

seriously, what happened was on friday when we talked he told me that he was going to the bay over the weekend and didnt know what time he was going to be back on sunday. thats fine, i agreed to call him on monday and setup a pickup time. He even had me shoot him an e-mail saying that i was commiting to buying the shed sometime this week.

well when i called he said that since i didnt call SUNDAY he gave he shed to a friend instead. HE forgot what ay i was supposed to call and immediately gave it away to some guy who was there buying other equipment!

ive been crying all night. Im so angry and upset at what this guy did to me. he seemed to nice and was genuinely apologetic for the mix up, but geeze, this really took the wind out of my sails. I spnt my lunch hour mapping out where all of my things were going to go, where i was gonna put the window, the pop door, perches, nest boxes. I just honestly cant believe that this isnt happening now. Its going to take me months to save up the kind of money that i need for this shed.

I just want to use curse words!!

Oh Aubrey! That is horrible!!! Geez what a jerk!

Elizabeth I'd love the cardamom bread recipe too! Won't have time to make it in the near future but it sounds like a great recipe!
