I'm glad everyone's safe and your coop isn't permanently damaged! I can't believe those coons came out when you were in the yard! Ok, I'm going out to check on my heat lamp security!

LOL! Sounds like you subscribe to my theory of naming animals! Speaking their fate into their future.

Aubrey that's terrible about the fire! I'm glad all your birds are okay though. That's been one of my worst fears! The light had to have been on to cause a fire. It looks to me like maybe the bulb you had was too much for the fixture. All fixtures should have a maximum wattage rating on them. That fixture may have been a 100 watt max and it looks like the bulb may have been 250 watt. Just guessing though - I can't really see enough detail to tell for sure.

Sunny I was cracking up over you - already talking about you couldn't wait for spring on the first day of winter!

Thanks for the insight Ron. It's weird though, Ive used this bulb for a while. I had it on for the past month and a half for the babies. Oh shoot. Anyways. I'm glad all that's over! In case no one knew, I've got terrible luck so these little bumps are to be expected. Were gonna get on buying our lumber lol

I know! I was crackin up myself. Usually the itch to get chicks doesn't start until mid to late January and it gets really overwhelming by the end of February. But I'm at the February stage now!

Probably because some of the eggs I was expecting in early Fall ended up not coming and I was so looking forward to those nice dark eggs. Plus I have several chickens and chicks coming in spring and I am so excited about them but knowing early and having to wait that long is sooo tough! Oh well, the solstice has passed so we can look forward to longer days now. But I sooo want my new chickies now!!!

I need to chill though, we still have quite a bit of work to do to get ready for them. It's going way too slow also.

Well..., til the next big snow storm hits and reality slaps me in the face!

Can't we just skip winter this year? Just ths once?

We had way over normal precip last year.

I'm fine with skipping winter (drivers) as long as we have enough precipitation for our gardens next year. I'm starting to get concerned. If we're in a drought, food will be expensive whether we buy it from California or pay for the water to grow it ourselves.

Aubrey, sorry about the coop! So glad nobody was hurt, even if they have to get a little cozy with each other.

Yea, I wasn't serious. The time is what I'd like to skip not the precip specifically. I would just like to go to sleep and wake up to good weather and chicks. Even without snow it is way too cold right now to ship chicks! So I wasn't really wishing for less water. It can rain all it wants as long as the weather warms up enough for babies. But as a friend of mine used to say... Try wishin in one hand and sh__tin in the other and see which one gets filled first.

Soon as I get powerful enough to wish winter away I'll let y'all know. Then you can get concerned when I pop off about such things.

Hey where has Lacey been lately? I hope that job isn't sucking up all her time and energy!
