Nevadans?

Congrats Aubrey, I knew something perfect would come your way after your disappointment. I don't know anything about how the plastic should sit on the ground but we've elevated our wood coop/shed on cinder blocks. If you're worried about stability in the middle, and you already have the pallets, maybe use cider blocks with the pallets in the center to give extra support.

bSunny....who would disagree with your sunny disposition?

chicharomirinda are you making homemade tamales? What time is dinner? YUUUMMMM!

So, wanna know what kills business in a wine bar? A DUI checkpoint right out front!
hmm.png
It was actually kinda funny....our customers are a very responsible group anyway but it was funny to see the "DUI checkpoint" setup right next to our "wine tasting today" sign. This is the second time they've set up right next to our wine tasting sign.

I went outside and told the officer "yer killing my business"! He shook his head and laughed! Only in a small town...

The nerve of those officers laughing at you!
gig.gif
I would have offered them a taste of the wine myself!

Aubrey - if you do plywood then you will need the super extra thick kind so you don't fall through. Also you'll need cinder blocks in the middle for support too. I myself would be a little worried walking on it but I'm sure John would just laugh at me and show me I wouldn't have a problem walking on it.

omg hahahahahaa! that stinks!

yep sheryl of course we would have cinderblocks evenly distruted throughout the area of the floor and we'd get some good plywood. I really do not want to use pallets because after being tossed out they are usually garbage and i dont think theyll hold up long, it really isnt something i want to have to maintain. Talking to mark, though we have decided we want to raise it for sure so that snow and wetness dont wander in from the pop door. I think Markie wants to use up some old retaining wall bricks we have laying around. If the deck werent so high off the ground i think it would be neat to build it on that but poor little ruby would get vertigo the second she stepped out the door, hahaha. anywhoo... markie is gonna start building it tomorrow but its in about four thousand pieces so i plan on it being done sometime in 2013

Ah yes, I resemble that year as well Aubrey! I think that's when my coop will be painted and moved to it's proper spot. Just tonight I was saying to John wouldn't it be nice when the shed is moved and we have more room in the backyard for everyone? So, I'm on countdown now for 2013.

LOL! where are you guys gonna put the shed? You know... If i were you i would just get rid of all that pesky stuff taking up space in that lil gold mine and move the chickens into the mansion shed...

Missy i saw the silkies on CL tonight! theyre so cute <3 youre brave to give em up so early. Ive still got the sultans downstairs in all of their red combed glory because im just HOPING that theyre only in their tomboy phase, LOL! with silkies its almost impossible to tell sex this young, are they sporting giant warty combs? Peteys turned red at four weeks and from then on we were natural enemies.

Naw, we were laughing together! It was pretty comical to see the two signs next to eachother. He was probably wishing he was inside enjoying some wine instead of outside directing traffic! At any given time, you will find officials to clergy in our establishment. Not a very rough crowd.

WOW!!! That shed is gonna make an awesome coop!!! The cinder blocks and plywood sound like a perfect solution.

Thanks for the suggestions on dessert guys! I have decided to do the pumpkin bread with a spiced whipped cream and a crumble topping to jazz it up a little and the dessert pizzas. That way the little pizzas won't take nearly as long to do since I'm only making 30 or so. I couldn't resist when I saw fresh strawberries at the store! Ok so I had to buy three times more than I needed to get a few decent ones but I just love strawberries, red globe grapes and blueberries on dessert pizzas and I am gonna be selfish and set 6 aside for Steve and I. Hee hee They really aren't that hard to make since I just buy those new Newton wafer cookies for the base and then smear a honey and cream cheese mixture on top, then add sliced fruit plus a dollop of lemon curd on top of that. I just love to complain and, well you were all here so...
lol.png
If I were feeling energetic I would add lemon zest for garnish but that aint gonna happen this time. I want to have some energy left when I'm finished.

Elizabeth I loooove enchiladas!!!

I'm just allergic to onions and peppers so I have to use leeks instead (not a huge sacrifice there, leeks are yummy) and other spices to make up for the peppers. I still serve peppers on the side though cause I feel bad depriving people.

Steve is the tamale fan. I won't tell him you're making tamales cause he will want me to learn and they look like waaaay too much work for this old back of mine.

Sheryl, I forgot my eggs again!!!

Hahaha! Thanks Pam! I feel the same way about all of you! I've always said people rarely feel neutral about me. They either love me or hate me.

I don't try very hard to dissuade them though. It's often mutual and I am just too old to worry about what every pea brain out there thinks of me. But seriously out of how many hundreds of chicken folks out there, many of whom I've met in person, it is amazing I can only think of one super negative person I've had to deal with. I know there are more out there cause I've seen other poor souls get the nasty end of a conversation a time or two on here but considering the scope of this forum it is amazing how rare these folks are. I think that most chicken folks are just plain NICE!!!
smile.png

Really! They are!!! Even when I'm in a rotten mood and complaining or having a real ADHD moment you guys are sweet hearts! What's up with that?

Missy I am so impressed! You got your seeds ordered already? I have to know. What did ya get? I am a sucker for heirloom tomatoes. I always order way too many! I love looking through the seed catalogs. I can never afford everything I want but deciding is so much fun.

I was thinking the same thing. He was probably wishing he could be inside tasting some great wine! That kind of traffic duty has got to be boring. A friend of ours, in the Bay Area, is a sherrif and he says that his job is hours of boredom followed by a few seconds of extreme excitement!

Probably even less excitement in your little town for an officer of the law.
