Sunny, The rooster that is standing on the piano bench is the daddy of my rooster. No name on that photo. Don't know who is to the left of him. Freznels picture is just below that on my computer. Some browsers can change the arrangement of things though. At any rate He is a BRR Mottled. Whatever that means. Cannonball is a really nice looking rooster though. I really like that color. I don't really care for the mottled stuff myself but will live with it since Serama have such a hard time getting any certain color out of them.
My real hope is to get the hen to lay and set on at least some eggs. Incubating is not working all that well. I have had all of three eggs even get a decent start. of those one quit at day 10 and another at day 12. nothing in my records indicates it was the incubator but it could have simply been genetics or maybe bacteria. Not sure at this point. I know both chicks died 2 days after I candled them. I will not be candling this batch until day 18 and then only as I put them in the hatcher. They have to be moved anyway. I consider candling a needless risk anyway. it doesn't let you really do much even if you know there is a problem. Manly it is an anxiety reliever for a short time. I never really settle down til the chick is out of the shell anyway so really what is the point. And if it is causing my chicks to fail I can definitely live without doing it. I may have to borrow someone elses fingernails to chew on though. mine are all about gone.
