Nevadans?

By "heavy pointy metal pole/tool thing" do you mean a post hole digger?

Yep, those are handy! I can't imagine doing it without one!

How deep are you setting the 4x4s? If you're going down at least a foot, I don't think concrete is necessary. Just pack the dirt in real well and then wet it with a hose. I think it will dry as hard as concrete if you have clayey soil.

LOL! I'm glad you figured that out Ron! I was thinking a Johnson bar. Well what they call a Johnson bar now has wheels but it used to refer to just a very large, heavy, pry bar. I use ours all the time to loosen up dirt in prep for post hole digging. Or I used to before my back turned traitor on me.

Ah, what you're talking about is what we used to call a "railroad bar" back when I was doing construction. We would use it to break up concrete slabs and footings. That may be what Elizabeth meant after all.

I'm looking at the new site with a Windows 7 PC and Internet Explorer 9. It seems to load just as fast as the old site for me. Also, Aubrey's funny "f's" are showing up. And all of the avatars look right to me, too. My only complaint about the new site is The list going down the right-hand side of Tags, Recent Reviews, etc. It squeezes the rest of the page too much!

Does anyone want to split a hatch with me?

After Sunny bragged about her lavender ameraucanas, I got so jealous that I just couldn't leave well enough alone. She gave me the name of her breeder (Thanks Sunny!) and she is going to hatch some babies for me. My amazing husband is going to drive me to California to get them. So I figured... does anyone else want a few totally beautiful designer chicks? I'll just pick them all up and bring them back.

This is what she can have available:
"My incubator holds 24 eggs. Of course not all eggs I set end up being fertile. If anyone else would like chicks I have the lavender & black split Ameraucanas, wheaten/blue wheaten Ameraucanas, project buff x wheaten Ameraucanas (basically EEs until perfected) and EEs."

I'm going to pick up 6 chicks for myself, 3 lavender and 3 EEs.

She's going to set them after the current hatch at the end of the month.

If anyone wants some but doesn't have room for babies at the moment, I'm willing to foster them until about 6 weeks.

i am bad with dates so when would we have to pick them up cuase you guys gave me chicken fever and those blue wheaten ameracans are gorgeous.( i would have to have a hen though) Is that breeders stock show quality because that would be a +. i am not good with the egg colors but i am guessing it will lay blue?

Meh, I don't know if I love it yet!

Aubrey are you getting all the junk down the right side, or am I only getting that because I'm not a GFM?

Quote: Yep. It has a lot of names. I just googled it. (I've really got to m quit procrastinating on my chores)
Quote: OK how did you fix it? It keeps rearranging on me. First the posts were above my new post box now they are below. I'm getting confused. There area lot of things I love about the new BYC but it's gonna take a little getting used to. Also the ads were only squeezing part of my screen on the side, now it's all the way down. Maybe I shouldn't have done the update.

Seth I don't know if she has ever shown her birds so it would be still be a matter of getting a quite a few and keeping the best. Course, as you know, even if the parents are SQ it doesn't mean the babies will be.

Seth, I would be going to get them about the 3rd week of February, and if I can't get them directly to you then they'd be comfortable with me for a few days until we could meet up. As far as show quality... I'm not familiar with the breeder... Sunny knows her a bit better. And they would be straight run, but I'm sure you could easily find a home for a blue wheaten rooster.
