Good for you guys!!! I am glad to hear some of you are making the trek. I hope to run into some of you!!! I will be in the waterfowl barn mostly and of course the sale barn(love that one and get in terrible trouble everytime) And bring money for the breeders raffle those are always fun!!! I am picking up some very nice 5 Cayugas to add to my duck flock! I love my chickens but my ducks are growing on me with their puppy like antics!! I never would have thought I would have ducks! HAHA

I want you guys to know I don't post on here much but I check in often and read ALMOST ALL the posts, love the info and the friendships here!!!

Missy I would stay away from ideal if you're getting polish. They dont sex their bantams and that's why I got 23 Roos and 2 pullets. I'll help pay for shipping if we can get sexed pullets from somewhere else...

Sunny, that sounds awesome. I'm ordering a few super-eggers to take up the slack of the pets. They just look so big and cuddly.

Elizabeth, I'll take you up on that offer. When do you need the money? If you're interested in adding a few more breeds, I'll pay the $1-per-breed fees they'll accrue.

not until April. it's for April 11 hatch. do want me to add 1 speckled sussex and how many blue silkies? Anything else?

it looks like meyer sexes their polish, by the way.

Here's the article on the coop fire from last night.

Missy, It is possible it's just my Wyandottes that are the way they are. I've had them since they were 2 days old but I know others are having bigger issues than I am. It was Sylvia who wouldn't accept the older ones when they first came but it was Wynonna who pecked Sylvia to leave everyone alone and Sylvia finally did. Monique took all the younger ones into her care mostly and it seems that Monique will continue again.

Elizabeth please let me know how the Wyandottes do when you add more to your flock, perhaps that was the issue. My girls were way too young perhaps, they were 3 months old when I brought in the older ones. Bella would not let them on the roost until they started to lay eggs. Then one by one they were allowed to roost.

Marans eggs are very expensive in France, they charge $30 per dozen there. France is claiming Marans eggs cannot get Salmonella because of the shell structure being so compact the Salmonella virus cannot penetrate it. I do not know if this is true or not but it is what I've been reading on the Marans. Restaurants would love to have these eggs in the United States and the chefs are looking for them.

Penturner, I must say you have one of the best set ups I've ever seen especially here in Nevada. I love your tobacco growing and your heater is something else. I would love to see your bee hive next year once they get going.

I don't know of anyone who's selling chickens right now.

I'm still planning on going to the show at the end of the month and I'm still hoping John will take the day off as well.

good luck! Ive been trying to get some wcb polish forever and EVERY SINGLE ONE i have gotten has been a roo, haha. go figure. if you guys do some kind of order id like to go in on it and do try #4 for a girl, lol. i know pam does not have WCB but i think she has buff laced..
No buff laced Aubrey, my avatar is a hen my friend gave me when I lost my flock. She was about 4 years old and we lost her after she witnessed a young roo get killed by a skunk. First she wouldn't come out of the coop unless I was there and then when I got her to go out, I'd have to go find her to put her away at night. One night I couldn't find her....

Anyway, I do have WCB, along with Black, White Splash & Silver Laced (poorly laced). I was told by someone on here that I could get some White Crested Blue out of one of the combos......and I have the same luck with the WCB....three boys! So I have two for sale if anyone's interested. I also have a Polish/Silkie mix roo I posted a while back although I got a call on him today, but he's beautiful.

I'm going to send some Polish eggs to Sunny along with some EEs. I have a variety of colors of EEs that lay, blue, green, pink and brown eggs.

Here's some pictures....
