Nevadans?

Since I'm leaning so strongly toward Ideal for my spring babies (mostly based on cost,) I'm open to buying a polish chick from anyone, if there's 50% or higher chance of being a female. My husband really wants a crested bird, but he doesn't want to order one just to find out it's a boy. A pullet is even better, whether or not she lays much. He really likes black birds, or anything with a majority of black on it.

Pam, too bad yours are roos, or I'd take you up on one.

Good for you guys!!! I am glad to hear some of you are making the trek. I hope to run into some of you!!! I will be in the waterfowl barn mostly and of course the sale barn(love that one and get in terrible trouble everytime) And bring money for the breeders raffle those are always fun!!! I am picking up some very nice 5 Cayugas to add to my duck flock! I love my chickens but my ducks are growing on me with their puppy like antics!! I never would have thought I would have ducks! HAHA

I want you guys to know I don't post on here much but I check in often and read ALMOST ALL the posts, love the info and the friendships here!!!

Awwww, thank you Julie! We are blessed with some really great folks on this thread! I forget how lucky we are til I go spend time on other threads. I hope I get to meet you this time. I missed that pleasure at the Reno show! Well actually I think we crossed paths briefly but it wasn't til you'd moved off that someone said "that was Julie".

not until April. it's for April 11 hatch. do want me to add 1 speckled sussex and how many blue silkies? Anything else?

it looks like meyer sexes their polish, by the way.

Now I want some Norwegian jaerhon pullets! Does Ideal sex them? They are sexable as one day olds since the boys and girls look so different. Is it too late to add a few more?

how are maran eggs different tasteing?

They are creamier and they taste buttery even before adding butter. Sorry but my avatar is gonna keep changing til I find one I like enough to stay with for awhile. But again that might just be the freshness thing. All eggs taste a little buttery to me when they are super fresh (up to 3 days old).

Sheryl I hadn't read that about the salmonella thing but then again salmonella is extremely rare in a small flock anyway.

Last I heard marans eggs sold for up to $42 a dozen in France but that is probably what you pay in the very expensive areas of France. There are still afordable areas, from what I've been reading, where the cost of living is much lower.

Glad to hear that chefs are looking for them here in the States. Someone else told me that as well. More toward the coasts but I'm not too far from the west coast to ship there quickly.

No buff laced Aubrey, my avatar is a hen my friend gave me when I lost my flock. She was about 4 years old and we lost her after she witnessed a young roo get killed by a skunk. First she wouldn't come out of the coop unless I was there and then when I got her to go out, I'd have to go find her to put her away at night. One night I couldn't find her....

Anyway, I do have WCB, along with Black, White Splash & Silver Laced (poorly laced). I was told by someone on here that I could get some White Crested Blue out of one of the combos......and I have the same luck with the WCB....three boys! So I have two for sale if anyone's interested. I also have a Polish/Silkie mix roo I posted a while back although I got a call on him today, but he's beautiful.

I'm going to send some Polish eggs to Sunny along with some EEs. I have a variety of colors of EEs that lay, blue, green, pink and brown eggs.

Here's some pictures....

Oh my gosh Pam they are sooo adorable!!! I had to wake Steve up to show him the pics! He laughed out loud. Now we can't wait to hatch some of these cuties out!

Well, straight run is pretty much 50/50 chance!

I only have the Roos for sale now, but I'll have chicks in the spring and if they don't sell as chicks I'll let you know if I have pullets.

They're pretty huh! You probably thought I just had the buff laced cause of my avatar

OK now I've changed my mind about wanting to breed these! Those boys are sooo handsome! Oh man I've got to reign myself in here! Ugh I'm sure I'll get some boys in this upcoming hatch...
But none of them are separated right now correct? Aw what the heck, I love a surprise.
