Welcome! Glad you joined us!

Hey everybody, long time Lurker, finally deciding to become part of the group. We're from Mesquite NV here. and still fairly new at this whole chicken thing!

Nom Nom Missy,

My favorite too! I always make my own breads and mayo and anything else I can do without buying it. I do it to avoid the chemicals getting into my body. Luckily my doctors are into being super healthy and started my eating ways a few years ago.

Everyone just loves Silkies and such but I for some reason love the LF's only. I don't like these little tiny birds and I don't know why.

Welcome to the Nevada thread Kentdalimp!

I've been making my own bread for years, especially when I calculated the cost of fresh, multigrain bread as 50cents per loaf if you make it yourself. Versus $4-5 a loaf for something that has 20 ingredients when it should really have 5 or 6. I guess that's the price... I haven't bought storebought bread in years, so I really don't know what a good loaf costs these days.

Two of the things that turn me off of commercial bread: 1) it can sit on the counter for 3 weeks. Homemade bread can sit on the counter for 3 or 4 days. 2) if you smoosh it, it springs back due to all the cellulose in it. Ewww? That's just not right.

We do our own bread, yogurt, mayonnaise, broth, and vegetables whenever it's the right growing season. Now eggs, and hopefully soon in the future we'll raise our own rabbit meat.

Aubrey those are so cute!!! I love the fluffy ones.

Silkies are the bomb.

Ron, thats what I'm doing through US Bank. I've got a visa with a 300$ max, which is good I guess, but I just wish the process were faster. Thanks though. :]

Hey Kentdalimp!! It's okay, I spend most my forum time lurking too. Glad you joined us.
