She looks like her head could topple over any moment, moreso than other polish. But she's so beautiful.

Thats what people said about elvis when he was a puppy. Poor guys head was way too big for his body :( sometimes he would run and his head would droop and snag on the ground causing him to sumersault. Ahhh, animals with disproportionate heads.

Um the circus and the carnival are two very different things. Don't ever tell a REAL Carny that they are a circus worker (or vice versa). They won't take kindly to that. No with my animal allergies (horses and cats) the circus is the last place I'd work. In fact I tried to take my kids to see the circus once... BIG mistake! Even sitting in the row furthest away from everything my eyes swelled shut and my nose started running like a faucet. It was sooo gross! OK on to more pleasant subjects.

Hey guys! I'm new here, americanvalkyrie directed me to this thread.

I'm in Vegas! & so I was wondering if anyone knew of any locals selling silkie chicks?? :)

Quinnie, if you just can't wait, you could order from Ideal (www.ideal-poultry.com) BUT:
1) the order minimum is $25
2) as we've all recently learned, their bantams tend to run strong with roosters
3) they're not the best quality.

I don't know how My Pet Chicken is, but you can order as few as 3 chicks through them, and they sex the silkies. (www.mypetchicken.com) I browsed their site for awhile, but the shipping was higher than Ideal so I went with the lower price. You would probably be paying around $50 to get a couple, after shipping.

The best bet for good birds, though, is to get hatching eggs from a breeder and have someone hatch them for you.

And as the hot summers, if you're going to keep them indoors you've totally avoided that problem.
