Nevadans?

aubrey we all know you are going to buy them so save yourself the struggle. and if you dont want them later you can sell them and they will go super fast

actually i was wrong. the olive eggers are only 4 weeks old and thats enough to make me not want em. i very seriously do not want to do chicks right now.

Nonni called her nephew who lives in Galena and the fire was coming up on them but they were able to stop it. Nonni asked him, his name is John, if everything was okay and he said he packed the car with the important papers and was getting ready to head out of there when the fire department told him his house was now safe and he could remain there.

I'm so thankful for the services our fire department and even California's fire department commits here in Nevada.

In order for me to increase my flock I would need to buy a bigger house with a bigger yard and that isn't happening for a few years from now so I must stop at my 10 hens. I won't be able to add to them unless I lose or trade them and I don't want any of that to happen to them.

Boy it would be fun though to be able to have like 30, 40 or even 50 chickens. I can always dream though.

Seth I haven't had a chance to really study her with the sop in my hands. I need to wait a couple more weeks anyway cause that's when the eye color changes in a marans so I'll know then if she has the correct eye color. Really though you will have to keep watching her til she is a year old. Only then will you know how promising she is. Right now she really looks good though! You better hope she doesn't lay a number nine egg or the deal is off!

I'm keeping all of the dark dark layers.

Well I'm pooped. I had some deliveries to make in Virginia City this afternoon and then some vital meds had to be out to the prison in Carson City and I got stuck in that horrible fire in South Reno this afternoon. Very scary! The car was filling up with smoke by the time the PD finally got us through. Had to go 3 hours out of my way to get back home plus there were 2 pick ups I couldn't make in South Lake. So I'm gonna hit the hay early. Have a good weekend all.

Aubrey the new Silkies are gorgeous!

OK I know there was more I wanted to respond to but by the time I got through all the pages I forgot what was on the first couple of pages. *sigh* Sorry if there was stuff I missed. Remind me tomorrow. G'night.

well, in mexico, you just get your eggs at the market in a plastic bag. Not quite as protected that way but...

With this new fire, I was just thinking I would be in trouble if we had to evacuate. I really don't have carriers in which to transport my chickens. suggestions for rather cheap small containers for chickens, anyone? I'd have to have several smaller ones to fit in our small cars.Maybe i'll have to look for pet carriers at goodwill or something.
This may have been answered already Elizabeth (miss a day and you're 5 pages back!

) but Sunny Dawn always brought birds to me in cardboard boxes. That's also what the local feed stores use, and I've been using them now too when I sell birds to anyone.

Poached eggs, perfectly runny yokes over fresh backed bread......best way to start the day!
I know; I wish I knew how to poach eggs like that!

I do bake my own bread though. I'm sure Missy doesn't do it this way

, but Aubrey you should get a bread making machine - that's how I do it!

It's super easy, and the results are awesome. The bread machine I have I got at Costco. I love it!

You're right; if someone gave me a bread machine, I would immediately regift it.

But it's a great option for someone who doesn't have the time and patience to learn all the little nuances like humidity, temperature, and dough texture. I don't like how the loaves turn out, but they're still better than storebought and you have total control over the ingredients.
