Nevadans?

With the weather being what it is lately it does not surprise me that Aubrey did actually have Gyrfalcon. I mean google how the Killer Whales are in the Ocean just outside of the SF Bay, that's virtually unheard of in these parts. Not to mention Great White Sharks going up to the Oregon & Washington Coasts which is also virtually unheard of.

Actually it's the dolphins who have returned the SF Bay. The whales are seen routinely and I believe great whites are common on the Oregon coast but the dolphins left the SF bay over 60 years ago and only returned this year.

yep you guys thats what it was! If you look at this website at the picture of "barry white" it will show you EXACTLY what it looked like. White head, mostly white with black barring instead of white lacing. EXACTLY it. thats nuts!

I actually just gave my 4 ducks away. They were cute at 1 day old,but are full sized at 4 weeks and poo on absolutely everything. I had them mixed with my chickens and everyday I felt like my Chickens suffered everyday because of them. They would never go in their house, and so the chicken coop was covered in DooDoo,their water needs to be changed at least once a day because of how much the ducks crap in it.Although we raised them, they werent friendly and ate twice as much as my chickens daily. They waste sooooo much food it was unbelievable. Not to mention dealing with water that freezes.Did I mention the Poo? Oh the Poo! They also stayed up partying all night! Quacking at all hours of the night. No one ever complained about my 2 roosters, but the ducks were another story. They are cute for sure, but EXTREMELY messy and better off left for people who have huge ponds. Call ducks are small enough that the mess might be easier, but I had medium size and they were a total pain.Chickens are way smarter and more independent,Im definitely a chicken person!

I do remember that while great whites are not as common as, say, the leopard shark in the SF Bay Area they are certainly not unheard of. In fact there are over a dozen varieties of sharks in the Bay Area.

Yes the return of porpoises to the Bay itself is very exciting and tells us the health of the Bay itself must be improving.

Seeing porpoises outside of the Bay itself was rare but delightful but in the Bay, no. I remember once when we were at Sunset Beach, my youngest son (about 13 then) had gone out a little too far for comfort. I was calling him back in when I noticed a couple of dark fins in the water passing behind him. My heart stopped for a second til I realized they were dolphins. My son had been ignoring my calls to come in closer.

I called a friend of his over to see the dolphins, which by now numbered quite a few. We then tried to get my son's attention to point out how cool a site he was missing just behind him. He still kept waving us off. Right then 2 dolphins passed right in front of him. We were quite shocked when, instead of appearing delighted to be swimming with the dolphins, he freaked and, I swear, almost ran on top of the water to get out! I've never seen anybody move so fast in deep water!

Of course it didn't take us long to realize that he thought he was surrounded by sharks not dolphins! We still laugh at him about that one!

we did a private tour of the monterey by aquarium last year and they did tell us that they have been working on a program for quite a few years where they have rehabilitated, bred, and released great whites back into the waters of nor cal. Thyre making a comeback!

No not unbelievable at all. There are falconry groups all over and they do lose one now and then. I'm betting that's where this one came from.

Yeah one of the articles I linked has a story about the study of great whites in the area. They are a remarkable animal!

I love the Aquarium!

Yeah, its not something i am very certain i am excited about since mark is an avid surfer of the santa cruz/pacifica area, however we are excited about the porposes! When we went on a surf trip last summer to san onofri they got to surf with the dolphins at arms reach the entire trip and it would be awesome if they could get that in nor cal too
