Nevadans?

Good to see a post from you. Your words some better. The bad thing about death is the pain it leaves for all of us left behind. You have a very strong mother.

Sunny..........Oh D**M, you know. Anytime

Thanks Sweetie.

Quote: Sunny, I'm so sorry to hear the news. When my brother (40 years young) was told he wouldn't beat the cancer, he also was the calmest of all of us!

I understand your moms decision to not treat aggressively. If we had somehow known my brother would'nt make it he could have probabley had a little more time and definetly better quality. He lost 6 months to treatment. But on the upside of a terminal diagnosis, you have precious time together. Your grieving process begins now and your mom is here to help you.

Big strong hugs to you and all your family. Glad to hear from you, we've missed you. Lean on us. It is a special group and thanks to you, we've found our own little coop on BYC.

Thank you everyone! I had fun but the best part was putting faces to the people I've met on here. What a great day yesterday was. I didn't find my Welsh Harlequin's for sale so I went into bldg. #1 where this gentleman was showing his only 3 birds. He said this breed is very hard to find. Boy was he right. He didn't want to breed with mine either because he's only concern with the quality of his birds and he's trying to get it down to a science. Oh well.

Well, Lacey has taught me what to do now with the breeding part of my Harlequins so I'm more prepared for it. Missy, if you want any Harlequin's this year then we would be more than happy to hatch out some eggs and see what we get.

Cecelia, I would be more than happy to have you hatch out the ducklings. Once I can save up for a hova-bator then I'll be able to hatch out my own ducklings. I'm looking at about a month from now but I can wait until you are ready to hatch again.

You sure are a great person Lacey! I had fun going to to Stockton with you, thanks for joining us.

I can't believe I was in bed my 7pm last night! John fell asleep on the couch at 5pm. I gave up with doing anything and went to bed and I slept until 7am - 12 freakin hours later! That's almost a record with me.

Sunny, I'm so sorry about the news on your Mom. I've been there too and trust me, I do know what you are going through and all the thoughts in your head right now. My father in-law died from complications of Pancreatic Cancer. He shrugged quite often saying how amazing it is not to have any pain with this. He was tired from the treatment though. His death was still a shock with us. My Mother In-law is still having issues with him being gone. Stay strong for your Dad, this is one of the times he needs everyone the most. He'll be lost later.

Oh my gosh, I'm blubbering right now reading your post and typing this all out! I love you Sunny! Stay strong!

It was so nice to meet all of you that made it to the show.

Aubrey, Sunny is always talking about how cute you are. She was right. And for the life of me you look like someone I know and I can't figure out who it is. I'll probably wake straight up and go "DUH"! BTW those OE were so cute when I was picking up the blue Marans chicks. None of them had ever been in shavings and Denny and I were cracking up watching them dust bathe. LOL The one you have with the white spots on the face would come over and look and then walk away and turn and come back over and look. She'd stretch her neck to check everything out. Then when I moved mine out, I felt so bad. Your two just chirp and and ran around looking for them and making all kinds of noise. I felt like I had torn the family apart. I should have gotten hold of Sunny like I started to do and you could have taken her the 4 I have for her here. These look similar to your mossy chick. I love them. Thing is I got to carried away and I need to get rid of all of them now. I just can't seem to do it when they're grown.

Sheryl I'm so glad I finally got to meet you. You and Aubrey did a great job today.

I think we need a California/Nevada Chickenstock!

KIM! aw geeze, you guys are so sweet. Its all an act, i promise. hahaha j/k
Yep I sure do love my little chicks. Im glad i didnt go crazy though and get more than two. I really do think i am sick of chicks if thats even possible. These ones are really adorable though and have great markings. The black and white one looks like my marans did as a chick, so Im expecting them to look somewhat alike. Im surprised neither of them have muffs though, huh?

To be perfectly honest I didnt do ANYTHING in regards to the duck nook except show up, lol. Sheryl pulled it out because I really am pretty shy and shes so good at those kinds of things and making people feel welcome. three cheers for sheryl! Although it sucks you couldnt find your duckies :( Im proud of you for staying strong in the sales bin, hahaha. I just turned to jelly and totally caved. "silkies silkies silkies!" And what the heck was up with all the crazy breeds? There were ZERO regular ol plain layin birds in there. It was really weird and surreal, haha.

Sunny Im so glad to see you back here. A lot of times it is the acceptance that hinders someones ability to move forward with these things and it sounds like youre definitely on the right path towards healing from this. Big amounts of love to your mom, though. From what youve told me shes quite the character and I respect that woman so much for making it through this with a firm unclouded head on her shoulders. good for her.

Missy I cannot believe that I forgot to tell you how yummy your dinner looked! Boy would i have liked to get my hands on some of those cream puffs, haha.

Elizabeth I have eggs for you! lets get together sometime this week OR I can leave em at Bibo one of these nights and you can pick em up when you get off. :)

Cecelia I cant wait to meet you today! I am definitely going to try to hatch those two mille fleur eggs that i got yesterday. Apparently there are only two people working on this project and Im a lucky duck who got a couple so it may be my only chance to have more :D Also my showgirl has been laying like mad but her eggs look pourous, so i hope HOPE i get a little nn polish. i hope so bad!

Aubrey, I'm jealous yet again! They all look so great! Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for each one?

And for names for the olive eggers... all of my suggestions would sound rather tasty! Kalamata and Niçoise?

(When my daughter gets surprised with her ducks, I'm going to convince her to name one of them Balut.)

Yeah sure! the silkie was 25 because it only has four toes, the showgirl was 25 because its non bearded and for some reason people dont seem to like non bearded (i dont get it, i think they look daintier)
The leghorns were 25 a peice, the marans was 20 and the olive eggers were 15 a peice.

Sheryl, you're ON! That way, I can have my own ducks to name Peking and Balut, and Sahara can go ahead and name hers SilkyButt and DuckyWucky or whatever else she tends to call her things.

Aubrey, those prices are pretty good. Of course, I'm sure if I was buying multiple birds, the prices would go up pretty fast. By the time you buy a hatchery chick and raise it up to that age, you've already spent at least that much money and it's not as good quality.

Sunny, your family sounds really strong. I'm glad your mom is at peace with her future, though I'm sure to everyone else it still feels chaotic and unjust. Please keep us in mind if you need something... one of us just might be able to offer it.

off topic I know but if you r local to reno and would be intrested in a bengal/siamese kitten. I have a litter im trying to find good homes for around valentines day. Im not asking anything for them but a good forever home where they will be loved and considered part of the family.
