Well these days the options are limitless. You've got plenty of time to decide. When I went to college I just got my general ed out of the way first so I had time to decide what I wanted to major in. Of course in California they have a lot more affordable ways to go to college but the cost of living is obnoxious! Anyway, good luck whatever you decide.

It was so much fun but not a money maker! The parents paid my salary by doing fundraisers because they wanted their kids to have more science, not just the dry textbook stuff. I went into each class for an hour to an hour and a half depending on the grade level. The teachers loved it too since they got to go take a break during that time and get caught up on grading or prep. Twice a year we did a more involved experiment that took more time so I just combined classes and got parents to help. It really was a blast!

CONGRATS vegaschick! What color are her eggs? I'm getting some ameraucanas in spring and can't wait to get my first blue eggs. I wanted to breed them to get EEs too so I would have lots of different colored eggs but I can't keep roos where I live

. I'm so bummed beacause the ameraucanas I'm getting are straight run and I would have roos to breed to my existing flock of BOs, BRs, Marans, RIRs and Lakenvelders.
Actually I'm probably going to get rid of my Lakenvelders because they lay a white medium sized egg and are pretty flighty. They are beautiful birds and lay an egg a day (most days) but I don't show my birds and I'm pretty sure that's the main thing these Lakenvelders are good for.
I need to thin my flock a little before spring anyway since I need to make room for the ameraucanas coming in spring. I can't keep much over 20 in my yard but they are all good layers and are only 9 months old so I'm sure I can get someone to take the Lakenvelders and a couple of my BRs in spring.

I am thinking of becoming an animal nutrients and working for Purina.

Ameila's eggs are green. I only have two EEers but they are my favorites. I also have a Lakenvelder. I named her Molly after the lady I got her from. She is the only other layer right now so I can't complain.

She is quite flighty but as she is the lowest in the pecking order that's probably for the best. I had to borrow a roo from a friend to get them to stop harassing her so much. They wouldn't even let her in the hen house to lay in the nests. She laid two eggs in the run before the roo came to visit. HOWEVER, he crows in the middle of the day and night so I gotta take him back soon, probably tomorrow.

Plus my Buff Rock who is the queen bee of my little flock is not intimidated by him in the least. I've seen her kick his butt at least three times...and that was just one day.

This shows both hens eggs. The first one of Amelia's and Molly's first one laid in the nests. It was a proud day!

evonne, I have a good friend that has a black frizzle/frazzle cochin roo that she wants to get rid of...interested? I'll see if I can get a pic of him soon.

That green egg is gorgeous! I'm sooo jealous. Congrats again on the first eggs! How old was she? I hear that ameraucanas and EEs are slower to mature. Just want to know what I'm in for when my babies get here in spring.
