Hi Everyone, Happy Mothers Day (Late) To all the mommas out there. 11 of 21 eggs have made it to lock down and are at day 20 today. Of course no noises, no rocking, no nuttin so far. So I am on High Anxiety ATM. Heilo (my new hen) has her first egg in this bunch as well. I suspect they are all just waiting for 2 a.m. to do anything.

LOL, where did you go to HS? That house sounds familiar...

If you live in an area zoned RE in Clark County you can have 25 chickens with a maximum of 3 of them being roosters.

Vegaschick, I have 5 other eggs in the bator at day 9 (I think) I'm starting to loose track of everything. So we can still get all anxious together.

GOOOD NEWS! 1 more tiny little Serama in Reno this morning. hatched at approx 10:00 a.m. I found the egg pipped at 3:20 this morning so it was a pretty fast hatch. One other egg has pipped but at the wrong end. I will be home from work in about an hour and will see what I need to do and if I need to help etc. Nothing so far from the other 9 eggs. Nothing to worry about with seramas though they may not hatch until day 23. I have heard a couple of cases of them hatching even later than that. I think this chick is all white.

To everyone asking about feathers.
For the most part I need clean, undamaged feathers. They are used in such a way to really show off the feather in detail. if being scalded and plucked does not permanently damage them, they will still work just fine. They are also used to make writing pens. So many feathers are to large. Hackle feathers are the most commonly used feathers at this time. But with my new chicks I have realized that chicks have very very tiny feathers. these are not only very good, but they are something that would not commonly be available to my penmaking friends. SO I have a special interest in any feathers you can get from your chicks molting their first set of feathers.
Hopefully this picture shows up that gives you an idea of what I mean by showcasing the feather.

Not the very best of pictures as far as showing the feather. but the purpose of this photo was to show the pen.

Anyway that at least gives you an idea. Iw ill take whatever feathers I can get and then sort through them by hand for only the very best of the best. for the most part let me know what you have and i will go from there. even if all you can get is a few dozen that are not dirty or damaged is better than a bag full of messed up ones.
