Finally, our first egg this morning! I'm so excited & proud of my Wanda (our Delaware). It was right in her nesting box and really a beautiful brown egg. Yippie!!!

aubreynoramarie & 4hens4us - Congrats on the new layers!!! (also welcome 4hens4us)

I'm with SparksNV ... still waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting ...

Have to show it off. Smaller egg on left is from Wanda this morning! One on right is from the (gasp!) grocery store - I had to buy a dozen yesterday since I thought this was never going to happen. Hopefully, last dozen I'll ever buy.

I have three who are 23+ weeks (2 Orp/Del, 1 Orp/EE) and three who are 20+ weeks (1 Orp/Del, 2 Orp/EE). One of my 23 wk looks like she should have started laying 10 days ago but I have looked and looked for eggs and none can be found - I think she knows how much this frustrates me and is thoroughly enjoying it...

The others look closer but definitely not ready.

My Egg Company partner SAYM took 4 6-packs of duck eggs to the local farmers market and also took some of her chicken eggs. she sold all! she sold a 6-pack of duck eggs for $2.50 and a dozen chicken eggs for $2.50. thats 50 Cents more then we usually sell chicken eggs for!! I wasnt able to go because i was out hunting. speaking of that...

How many Nevada BYCers are hunting?
I was out deer hunting friday-sunday, and am going back out this friday. wondering who else here hunts. Also, other than the farmers market, i havent been able to sell duck eggs, and this was the last market for the year. i know i couldnt eat my ducks, even the drakes, because i have talked to them and givin them treats, etc, and i'm soft like that

so i was wondering if it was worth posting my ducks on the auctions thread, if any Nevadans wanted some. otherwise I'll just advertise here in elko.
