I had one that was looking like that, too. I was just getting ready to take a pic and post on here to see if anyone knew what was happening, but then she just was back to normal.

Regarding Ms Pecker and her neck, She had one spot a couple of weeks ago and I noticed it is growing back very quickly..I also took photos and was ready to post on here, but did a search on hens losing neck feathers on here, and there are sevaral entries from other peole saying the same thing..So I will wait to see if this grows back..I think we are too cold here for mites, (we have no fleas on other pets!!) but it's good to know about sevin dust for their dusting pits and the diatomaceous earth..which is good for other things... I sure appreciate this forum!
Jeepers..you, more than most, should know that things are never ina hurry to get fixed here in Elko!!! I will come by tomorrow when I go to Church and drop that off....

Genny, I've never seen a chicken molt so I didn't know if that was it or not.

Actually, I'm still confused. Do they just molt in one place like that?

I always imagined molting to be more of an all over process. Still a chicken newb, I guess!

Aubreynormarie,,,You maywant to knock out dividers and make the boxes larger? We have 4 boxes for 9 hens..they all lay in the same box anyway! These are probably 24"x 24".
Jeeper's hens do the same thing, or they were anyway..
Speaking of Jeepers I will swing by about 930
