Aubrey-If your hatch goes well, I'd be interested in a couple of Silkies

.

I'm beyond excited to say that I've been able to talk my hubby into making me a bigger coop! I've sweet-talked the man into sharing some of his manly garage space with our cluckers. I'm hoping that we might even be able to keep a Roo if he is able to wake up and cock-a-doodle in the insulated indoors...My gosh, I had no clue how easily I'd get sucked into the chicken math phenomenon...this is BAD news, lol!

Our 5 chickie babies from Genny are getting so big (and still adorable). They are 7 weeks old now and fully feathered. Tonight is their first go in the coop and I'm feeling rather panicked! I'm *pretty sure* we've got 2 cockerels and 2 pullets, but I'm still clueless about the little bantam chick. Nobody's crowing yet, thank goodness! I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to any of them.

Off topic, but still on a barnyard related note, have any of you fellow city dwellers been tempted to purchase a mini-dairy goat? I've been doing quite a bit of reading and I'm intrigued by them. I had no idea that raising "productive" animals would be so fun/rewarding, and now I *need* more...Contemplating whether a pair of little goats might be a good way to do so.

Happy weekend,

Stacy

Great photo Jeep!
Yes, your driveway is a natural wonder to behold..almost beyond belief sometimes! Great Photo of Henny...I have a sick RIR (the only one wothout a name) Maybe she knows this!!!???
I soaked her yesterday and tried to get her to eat..I forced some sugar water down her..so we'll see what is out there this morning,,waiting for it to get light! I noticed yesterday that she is standing in a corner by herself, not eating...she looks tired and when I picked her up she weighs nothing..she had some yellow discharge, but i cleaned her up and there hadn't been any more

I was hoping for more suggestions from members on the emergency thread..but none so far...probably not a whole lot more I can do,,I'll isolate her this morning if she is still among the livng..Been busy at the Poetry Gathering...

I'm setting my own eggs from my black ameraucana roo and my ameraucana and EE girls. I haven't finished the breeding pen for my ameraucanas yet so they are all mixed together for now. But they will give me green and green/blue layers.

Ha ha! I love it!

Thanks but the dinosaur won't work.

I did see him and a lot of other dinosaurs on the web but it has to be a lizard.
My DH calls me a lizard all the time because I love the heat and because I was raised in the desert (So Cal and AZ). Plus I love lizards! I caught a blue belly lizard once on a camping trip (well I used to catch lizards all the time but this one was special) and when I went to let him go he decided he didn't want to go! He ran up to my shoulder faced forward and decided to finish the hike with us. When we got back to camp and I sat down to rest, I expected him to take off but no, he decided to stay and even shared some of my lunch with me. This went on through dinner and even well after! He didn't leave my shoulder until it started to get cold. First he ran down to my knee where he could feel the warmth of the fire and eventually he made his way down to the toe of my boot. From there he decided the rocks by the fire were a perfect spot to rest and, after the fire burned down a ways, he finally left our company.

It was a special day for me and my friends were dumbfounded! Now it's kind of an inside joke that I am part lizard myself, so the graphic I'm looking for is pretty specific.

Sunny: You know, if you have a graphic that you like but just is not exactly what you are looking for, or something specific, you could always PM and maybe I could make you one. I am pretty good at making graphics, glittered, animated, etc. We give "gifts" (which are really special graphics that show up under their avatar) to our friends on my parenting board and I wanted something pretty unique to our ppl so it took me about 3 or 4 months to put together a good set. Here is an example of some of the stuff I have done. If you like what you see and you have a graphic you like but just is not perfect or you have a general idea of what you are looking for I can probably and very easily make it for you.

You can alway just right click on the image you like and copy link location and then add that link to the
tag when you want to insert them into a post. I have over 5000 of these so let me know if you do not see something and maybe I can make you up something.

And you are right Ron, you cannot put images in your signature but you can manually put in the code for it at the end of each post.

INCUBATOR UPDATE: Well I am going to take the plunge and get a Sportsman 1502 Incubator:

yhst-47162501710842_2143_58609812

I have been looking around online for reviews and prices, etc. Then Friday when I went to Green's Feed just for S&G I decided to ask if they had any or could order them and what the prices are. They want $915 + S&H but unlike all of the other places online their's comes with all of the trays, the humidity controls, the water reservoir, etc. So comparatively it is much cheaper.

I am going to try my best to get my broodies to do most of the hatching and setting for me but I will have this for a backup and if anyone in the area needs to incubate eggs but does not have the room in their bator, their chickens are not being broody enough or you just do not have a bator perhaps we can get together and help each other out. It has 3 incubator trays and one hatching tray. This unit will do around 270 chicken eggs at a time and you can rotate incubations and hatchings as well. So we'll see, I am pretty excited that's for sure.
