Nevadans?

Yeah well Darlas at the bottom of the pecking order so she ALWAYS feels the need to start stuff with newcomers. Usually they peck her on the head once and she runs away!

Broody mom has been off the eggs for two hours, is this normal for her?

No but a couple of hours, or even more, in this heat isn't a problem. The move may put her off them though.

Yeah I think she's not going to set them anymore

makes me sad cuz I candled my bator eggs tonight and got mostly bloodrings. I had a bad spike a couple of days ago.

She hadn't sat on the eggs at all this afternoon. She's still puffing up at me and acting nuts though when I come around so I don't get it. She stayed outside of the kennel and when the sun went down I locked her and gypsy in there and last I checked gyp was sitting on the eggs. I candled them but don't know what I'm looking for, they are very watery and don't seem to have any particular airsac area?

Mark says the girls are really pretty though, just kind of wild. They will come around though like midge did

Why do the animals always show up at my house?
I'm trying find a home for a shih-tzu puppy and a Ring-Neck dove shows up twice with-in 35 days gettingstuck in my rooster pen so know he's in my bird cage in my barn until his tail feathers grow back. To top it all of I still can't find a job in Fernley that will hire an 18 year old without a GED.

Walmart will for sure. I hear they have flexible schedules and good benefits also. Scholaris should too. I worked alot of grocery stores and thrift stores in high school, so I didn't have a diploma or GED at that point. I bet the pizza shop or wigwams wouldn't care too much either! Don't give up!

Well, i went to let broody mom and gyp out of the dog crate this morning, and while broody mom was still groling and puffing up at me, she was not setting the eggs.

they werent even all next to eachother anymore. They were ice cold. I put them in the incubator because they are kind of heavy and feel like theres a big mass in there, but i am not holding out much hope. That stinks, i was hoping shed be able to do this still. I cant blame her though, this move is probably very stressful for her.

on the other hand, if she is still broody and i get some ams or marans, do you think i can give them to her or will she kill them? I wish i could see into the maran eggs because i really want one, and with all the bloodrings in the ams i am gonna be really dissapointed if i dont get anything out of this hatch.

oookay... its me again....

just wanted to remind everyone that the annual poultry swap at krusse's feed store in washoe valley will be tomorrow. I want to find Markie a couple of Polish hens and then i am finished collecting chickens!

Aubrey - I'm looking for a barred plymouth rock pullet if they have one there can you get it for me and I'll meet you to pick it up and pay you back? I'm working tomorrow until 7pm so I can't go?

Sure thing! If I remember correctly they had barred rock roos last year but not pullets, I'll send an e-mail to the lady who's doing the swap and request one!

Awesome! I was planning to go to the State Tree Nursery in Washoe Valley tomorrow. I think I'll drop in just to see what the poultry swap is all about. Where is the feed store?
