Thanks. I know there are a lot of great breeds out there but sometimes folks seem to get defensive because I am so partial to these dogs. It's nice to have someone agree with me on this topic.
I was Always really passionate about bull terriers. Then I got one and while I love him, he has been a lot of work. He has mental issues that have had me reduced to tears. I know it's not a typical bull terrier thing but it still makes me sad sometimes. Fortunately he redeems hisself with his quirkiness and all of the good he does. However after him I think I'm going to do miniature bull terriers, lol

Let me know when you want it.
I'm not the best drawer but you should be able to go off it.
I love looking at chicken coop plans! Well any kind of building plans actually. Just email me with an attachment if you'd like.
Ok. It's breeder coop style .I'll figure out how to scan it tomorrow.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that likes looking at coop plans. Did you ever see the book about coop plans?

congrats! We are in Stead in a subdivision but close to red rock road. We often take drives on red rock. Since we got bitten by the chicken bug, we've talked about moving out that way some day. however, with the current state of the housing market, (we're totally underwater on our house), it may be quite a long time!
Enjoy your new digs! Should be a perfect setting for chickens!
DH and I talked about the coop today and now it's going to be 10x10 and the run on the other side than i had originally planned. it should work out good though. I can't believe that DH is getting so excited about chickens. he's usually not too enthused about my projects.

It's weird to me that anyone would get defensive! I think the vast majority of dog lovers have grown up partial to certain breeds. I for one go for animals that look strange, lol. I wanted a Chinese crested and shar-pei for a long time too
Kelpies I like but they are a bit small for what I have in mind. These dogs will need to protect our property from coyotes and mountain lions. That is why I want at least 2 large breed, protective dogs. Coyotes sometimes hunt as a pack and can overwhelm a solitary dog. Even a large shepherd. I've never heard of coyotes tackling a pair of large dogs though. Actually it's only been the last few years that I've heard of coyotes being bold enough to stand their ground against 1 big dog but they are apparently getting more desperate these days to find food and I've been hearing more and more of these stories in the last couple of years.

That's awesome! My DH is crazy about the chickens too. In fact he's been moping around since I sold the flock saying the backyard looks lifeless without the chickens running around. He may not be great with remembering who is who or what breed they are but he loves them all the same.
I can completely relate to the upside down mortgage situation! It's bad news for most homeowners these days. They're stuck in a bad situation.
Yea Aubrey we had a similar situation with the last rescues we got. They were mixed (1/2 Chow Chow, 1/4 shepherd and 1/4 golden) and they were both loving but not very smart. The boy was especially challenged! He couldn't seem to keep himself out of trouble no matter what! His sister would even try to pull him away from something he was about to get in trouble for by gently mouthing his leg and tugging but he would just get mad, snarl and lunge at her and then go and do it anyway. Then he would look at us as if to say "didn't I do great"? Happy as clam and never understanding that the same behavior got him in trouble every time.
I know he was retarded and couldn't really help it but it has put us off of Chows forever! Plus they are a LOT of work to keep groomed and ours weren't near as fluffy as a full Chow is. Steve is partial to Shar-peis. They are sweet dogs for the most part but again not the type of dog to do what we need dogs for right now.
Thanks Tyler. No rush. Just send it when you get a chance. Yes I saw the book advertised here for chicken coop plans but we went to the library and on-line and got a ton of stuff for free instead. I'm not big on paying for stuff if I can get it for free instead.
Whew! Usually by the time I finish typing a post you folks have got a bunch more responses up but this time I finished before that happened! As slow as I type I'm surprised but tickled.

Yeah not the best for guard work but for herding and competition work they are great. There is one at NHS right now I would take in a heart beat. He bonded to me when I walked up to his kennel.
