Nevadans?

Awww, you guys are the best! I logged on to erase my post from last night (afraid it looked like I was boasting) but your comments changed my mind. I love this group! We have the best people here!!!

Daniel I wish I played an instrument but I don't.

It would have been a tremendous help when I was performing, even though singers do better when they are not distracted by trying to play an instrument at the same time, it would have been great to be able to pick up an instrument during interludes and help the band out but I never learned to be good enough on any instrument to do that. I really appreciate the talent that folks like you and Lacey have! I know how much dedication and practice it takes to get really good at anything like that! Yes I know it takes work to keep my voice in shape too but I have seen some fantastic vocalists that are also great instrumentalists and I've always wished I could play at least one instrument really well!

Sunny I love your story! Im not sure if you are aware of this but we have TONS of instruments downstairs and even a recording room. Markie and our roomate are both in a few bands so there is "live band" in my house a couple of days a week and I love it. We are very music oriented. Markie plays everything and I only play drums (

Ok, lets do it!!! Sounds like a blast! I do mostly old torch songs but I also do a few from the 60's and 70's. I love to perform Janis Joplin's Me and Bobby McGee. Or Last Dance by Donna Summer or... Oh who am I kidding? Even those songs are old for the punk rockers you hang out with Aubrey!

have you seen our record collection? half of it consists of musicians from the 40s and 50s and tons OF GOOD MOTOWN! Infact, id say im more into the golden oldies than my second fave (punk rock.) I mean, my dog isnt named 'elvis' for nothin....

I spend over six hours today slow smoking some spare ribs, and when theyre done, no one wants any. And hour later, my moms like 'pop them in the oven to warm them up'. I had one when they were done the first time, and they taste nothing like what they did then. Ug! All the smoky-ness and goodness is gone. No respect.

Oh man would I like a few hours to go through that collection! Sounds awesome! Ok we have to get together sometime just for kicks. That would be a blast!

Sunny, that's great you got the chance to sing for Steve and that it turned out so good! People just tend to underestimate other people so often, I think. But you showed them!

penturner, we just found out we were moving about 2 weeks ago. It was not by choice, of course! We were just moved from Mackay Science 13 months ago. such a waste of time and energy but we just have to go where they say to go. we're hoping we get to stay put for awhile now but who knows. i hope things slow down for you all soon so you don't have to get pulled in so many directions.

Lacey, sorry you put that work in on the ribs and no one appreciated it.

sounds like we are a musical bunch! I play the cello and piano and a little guitar.

I got some painting done on the coop today. Tomorrow i'm going to work on the doors and putting hw cloth over the windows and vents. the chicks are getting pretty crowded in the brooder. I think i will have the inside of the coop ready in the next couple of days and can move them in. after the hw cloth is on, i will probably put some plastic over the large windows and then move them in. then i can work on making the windows and installing those from the outside.

In my early days I had a pretty good country singing career. It finally came down to signing with a major label, getting on a bus and leaving my husband and 6 & 8 year old behind....I just wanted to sing and wasn't willing to give up my family so I walked away.

I did learn to play guitar so I wasn't "just a chick singer" but my instrument is my voice. Sunny, I too love the torch songs. I always said I would be happy as could be as a lounge singer! I could sing "Summertime" day and night and never get tired of it!

How fun it must have been to see the faces of the band when you opened your mouth!
